Found this on hondatech.

Not many people know this but If you feel loose or sloppy steering, adjust your steering rack before anything.
A simple 1/4 of a turn of the guide screw on teh steering rack can make the biggest difference.

For quick reference, the part # for the tool to adjust the rack is
07916-SA50001 WRENCH (40MM

here's the procedure from a manual:

Quote:
1. Loosen the rack guide screw locknut with the special tool, then loosen the rack guide screw.

2. Tighten the rack guide screw until it compresses the spring and seats against the rack guide, then loosen it.

3. Retighten the rack guide screw to 3.9 Nm (2.9 ft. lbs.) , then back it off to specified angle. Specified Return Angle: 20°Max

4. Tighten the locknut while holding the rack guide screw.

5. Check for tight or loose steering through the complete turning travel.

6. Perform following inspections:

o Steering operation.
o Power assist with car parked.

I tried to do that to my old Integra, I called Honda asking for the tool, they wouldn't sell me it.
Then went down to a shop I know since I don't have a 40mm wrench and they told me its not adjustable. After arguing with the manager for 30mins why its called the steering rack adjustment nut, he still refused to touch it and wouldn t let me use the 40mm while the car was on the hoist.

You need to know ppl that work at the parts department to get specialty itmes like this in some cases. I remember trying to buy Honda bond from Pickering Honda and also tried Sisley Honda and they wouldnt sell it to me so i went to a different Honda and knew the guy there and he got it for me with no problem.

40mm tool for adjusting steering rack.

I gave up trying to find one. Turns out Honda does not stock them, just sends the order to have one made as they get an order. May take up to 10 weeks before you get the wrench. I drew one up and will cut it out of steel this weekend. A buddy has CNC plasma cutter, then finish it with a hand file. It would be nicer if water jetted, but this will work fine.
