D.I.Y. - EG rear Fog Light for $2

3 Attachment(s)
here is my first DIY for my beloved EG6.
tools you need:
solder and solder gun (optional)
shrink rubes or electrical tape
Rear Outer Stanly bulb socket can be bought from scrap yard for $2.
paper clip or small watchman's flat screw driver.

keep the original inner light wire handy as you be using it for reference.

on the original inner harness note the position of wires. looking at the wire side here is how i labeled them for this install.
[R][ ][G][B]
[1][2][3][4]

to remove the wires from the quick connect on the Outer Stanly wire harness use a paper clip or small flat screw driver remove the pins from the quick connect on the Stanly outer harness.

the outer Stanly wire harness also has two wires connecting to the corner bulbs on USDM cars you can cut and discard them

the rest of the instruction are embedded to the pictures.

note this install will make the rear fog light come ON every-time you turn on the lights. i didn't want to go through the trouble of running wires to the front cockpit for the switch.

After the modification is done to the wires and connector install the proper bulbs into the sockets and then install the harness to your car.

now enjoy you very cool mod.

I dont want to sound stupid but what are you getting out of this? a rear fog into your tail light housing? pics?

seanv98 11-Sep-2009 07:47 PM

I believe it's it's for the JDM rear fog light mounted in the bumper.

D.T.P 11-Sep-2009 08:05 PM

^^ rear foglight goes in the bumper.
I know my brothers old volvo had a rear fog inside the tail light housing. So does the MK3 jettas. But the real jdm fog is rectangular housing that is mounted in the bumper.

^^^ not for the eg or Ek models this was integrated in the rear tail lights, do your research first.

so the old ladys can see u in the fog and dont hurt your special car but in the tail lights look odd should be in the bumper

jdm ek4 12-Sep-2009 11:50 PM

Actually its not JDM, its EDM. They only came in Europe for the civics in the bumper.

subsonic-civic 13-Sep-2009 08:32 AM

I dont like in the bumper. In the tails look much better to me.

civicEJ1 13-Sep-2009 10:50 AM

i tink it looks gay either way

slowandfurious 13-Sep-2009 11:14 AM

edm had fogs installed in the bumper, on the jdm eg taillight there is a capped hole for a foglight within the rear tailight housing.

Ummm...isn't that what 4-way flashers are for?

I only use them for poor visibility situations (ie. heavy rain, heavy snow and serious fog).

I don't understand why some people drive with they're 4-way flashers on in poor conditions. I always see them in the winter time especially. What is the point of that? And isn't driving with 4-ways on illegal?

Sirberner 14-Sep-2009 12:53 AM

it look like you car has wiring problem or you mix up the lights

you also can't tell if ur signaling or not since all 4 flash at the same time.

Thats what I thought when I first saw this, seem's rather impractical.

4 ways are more visible in heavy snow or fog than just tail lights. If you want to turn/change lanes, turn 4 ways off, signal, turn 4 ways back on.
