car randomly stalls
so, Im driving on the highway the other da and my 99 civic sedan decides to shut off. It has been doing this now for the past couple of days, and it just does it when it feels like, while I am driving. I have some ideas of what it could be but im not sure. I was told that the ignition switch could be faulty but when i jiggle it, nothing happens and my car doesnt have that recall on it. Another possibility is the coil/ignitor, but wouldnt it take me a while to start back up if that was the case? Sometimes it takes a minute to get it running again, and sometimes it takes 1 try. How do I fix this and what do I do to test my theories?
Any help would be appreciated, Alex |

i have this problem, well very similar, when you try the second time, does your fuel pump prime?? you should hear a little whine noise when you click your key foward twice, but if you do not hear it. that means you fuel pump is not turning on...
what i had to do was play with the fuel pump relay which was located on the driver side, mine was a brown casing.. i unplugged it and bent the pins inside just a little to make better contact with its connector... |
i'll check, but im thinking its an ignition problem, thanks for the advice though
