You get dissmissed....

Long story short, I was unjustly dissmissed from my place of employment...

With that being said, can somebody please refer me to an attorney who deals with Employment Law. Preferably someone who I can speak to today(sat). Because I'm a little distraught, and need advice.

just open the phone book and find a labour lawyer and explain your situation and what advice or direction they can offer you.

but i'm pretty good with such matters if you want to ask me anything

Called everyone in the phone book in 1 hour. They're either not open, or dont deal with employment law.

i've had this happen, how long were you working there, was it part or full time? Trust me, this matters.. and why did you get fired?

Was there for about a year... worked full time in the summer, then when school came around, switched to part time.

reason for dissmissal - gross negligence.

I feel I have a case. I'm not going down without a fight.

The worst thing about this is, when you tell the truth, u think your safe. But people only believe what they want to believe when looking to place blame.

My incident..
 
Here is my incident....


I worked at Wasaga Waterworld last year. My sister worked there the previous 5 years and was the boss/manager/******* run around girl and didn't pay her good. She quit the next year and ever since then, he didn't like me. So one night, about 2-3 weeks into the summer, me and all my buddies from Waterworld and Wasaga opened the gates to Waterworld with the keys(mine) and walked in around 10-11 at nite. We drank and went swimming in the hot tub, slides, and wave pool. It was a great time. We all made an agreement that we will not tell Roger (the boss/manager/*******) about that nite. So the next morning I woke up still drunk and I had to go to work for 7:30. So I went in hammered (no1 knew except my buddie that worked there). Then he told me that some idiot put bottles of soap/detergent in the splashdown pool (slide pool) and when he turned on the pump, yes, it was a big big bubble bath. So we had to clean it all out, which took about 3-4 hours of the business hours out. But all of the guys that went, didn't have any soap or anything to do with it. It was just a really weird co-incidence. Then he asked me if I was there that night (somehow he knew about it) and I said no. So then he asked one of the lifeguards on duty, and she said yes and named all the people that were there including me. Then the same day, he brought me into his officed and fired me and only me. Not any of the other guys/girls that were there. My dad didn't like this at all, so he went in and complained to him and somehow I got my job back. I was still pissed at him and he treated me like **** the whole time I was back. So, with about 2 weeks left, there was a big group that came in, I quit that morning and screwed him over for the rest of the year :) I was only getting paid $7.00 I am telling all of you right now, DO NOT GO THERE. It is so dirty, and no-one is trained or qualified fully. The pools are never balanced correctly. If the cops see this, please go check that place out ! Its awful working conditions as well.

2 rice 4 u ... when you went in at night was the front doors that you opened with your set of keys left unlocked...? if so your responsible for the damage that was caused and your employer did have a right to fire you...

as for rapidartifacts...what was the reasoning behind the dismissal you can PM me if you want

Basically, the person on the shift before me had a deposit to drop. They forgot and left it in the locked cash drawer. I saw the deposit but I did not put it in the safe. Reason being, a memo was issued a while back specifically stating we are not to make deposits on others behalf, or without a witness. Because I said I saw the deposit, they are saying it was in my possession last, and ultimately I'm responsibile for the money. But if the person before me would have fulfilled their responsibillities, I wouldn't be in this situation.

Oh and get this, she stilll has her job.

well dude take it too a laywer you should get a nice settlement out of this in my opinion... have to wait till monday when they are in the office though....and the laywer will request things from the company like a copy of this memo ..if you can get it before they find out your suing there ass even better... if you have a friend there that can grap a copy even better....

well I think you deserve compensation in this case (based on the facts I've been told)... it's like this ..if you go to sell a house you never put it on the market for what you'll settle for you put it on the market for a price above that, why because the buyer will never offer what your asking...

same thing when my dad was let go (the company was closing his department and he had skills that could have been transferred to other departments and he was unionized so they should have) he calculated out what the job was worth to him in terms of income and benifits and took the max cost of all those individual items and calculated out to retirement as well then he sued for this amount and settled for less (he didn't plan to work there till retirement). so go for it sue for millions...

Its unlikely I'll get any ammount, satisfactory to me.

I would be doing this purely for the principal involved. I was not responsible for the deposit missing, so I'm definately not going to take responsibility for it, bottom line.

Now as I understand it, I can take only one of two directions.

1. File a complaint with the Labour board
2. Go through a lawyer.(which might not be worth the cost)

A paralegal is someone who you can go to for legal information, but doesn't have a liscence to practice 'law'
