Unique Whips

Okay, the last couple weeks is the first time I've had time to actually watch TV in well over 2 years. With my new interest in upgrading cars, I'm watching every automotive and custom show I can find. I'm loving all the Discovery Channel stuff like American Choppers, Monster Garage etc... but I'm watching Unique Whips at this very moment and I'm not enjoying it. Does anybody else like this show? I've only seen a couple episodes, but it looks like whiners and posers on parade. From what I've seen, they don't actually show the production or the vehicles that much. Just the employees fighting and all the stars they work for. Am I not giving it a fair shake? Does it get better? Or did I just waste a couple hours of my life that I'll never get back?

Aside from all the drama that get played up on that show (and most of the other car shows) its a pretty amazing shop that turns out some pretty amazing cars. Thats the caliber of shop I hope to run someday.

unique whips is not my thing either...
they don't doo anything extraordinary, every car looks the same, they don't do any "unique" set-ups, same box all the time... i donno...
and true rides is best, they show more fabrication which is what i like to watch, not pure talking...
but overall car shows sukck i think

indeed

they have to get ratings to stay on the air..and I dont know alot of people who would sit through a whole car show if it was all about the tech side of stuff, most people would change after 5 mins, they gotta have the drama and stuff its what people like to watch.

Unique is pretty good, nice cars, nice drama, big stars although all car shows are the same, overhaulin is boring to me now

true true... most people just like the bling factor

but the concept of overhauling i don a gree with, they restore/modify cars for most people that are pretty well off already, like cmon...
now pimp my ride is a good concept, they get the nastiest cars from people who deserve something good.... BUt then they just rice the hell outta them... so if they only had a better show/goal for the way they do there mods...

I dpn't think they are welloff i.e. that guy that does retail for a perofrmance shop or the other dude with the 67' bel air that was well old and broken...I can agree with you about the armstrong car which was nothing but a money grab and 2 promote *Live Strong* and that ghey sheet hell they even made a overhaulin *Live Strong* dvd including 30 minutes of bonus!

If anything, most of them I like to see if anything different comes out, I tend to like watching Rides more than any of them. But it seems to be the trend now, look at all the shows they are pumping out now.

I think what alot of people have to keep in mind is, most installers would love to do fiberglass etc and get really creative, but alot of people dont want such systems or cant afford it. I think Unique is a good show, I wouldnt categorize it as "the premier car shop on the east coast" cause they arent really fabricating, and are basically doing alot of stuff that others do i.e. retrims, headrest, spiners etc... But they are succedding in TV land cause of their clientele and im sure thats alot of the reason as to why they have a show in the first place. Being a former employee of a car audio store its great to see that the daily drama and hassels are common in most "audio stores"

all in all, i think its not a terribly bad show.
