Think Again!

Is that $300 worth the possible exposure of personal info?

Here's a tip for the folks @ Apple:

The BlackBerry device wipe process is designed to delete all data in memory and overwrite memory with zeroes. If content protection is turned on, the BlackBerry device also uses a memory scrub process to overwrite the BlackBerry device flash memory file system. The BlackBerry memory scrub process complies with United States government requirements for clearing sensitive user data, including Department of Defense directive 5220.22-M and National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-88.

it takes serious tools to extract the data but even still this is a blow at iPhone's apparent attempt at penetrarting the business market.

the retail consumer market for the iphone is 10 times bigger than the business market while the opposite is true for bb. so any market share apple gets in the business segment is pure bonus and not as strategic as it is for rim.

once a product grabs the 'gotta have it' status....it sells regardless and the iphone has done that already. do u think ppl really care about privacy...specially youngsters/teenagers/college/uni students etc (the market for iphone).... no they dont.

Right, but it will be a lot easier for RIM to steal market share in the consumer market then it will be for Apple to steal any share of the business market and RIM has already begun to do so.

I think RIM's total sales last year were comprised of approx. 35% consumer market which is pretty big for them. And now with prettier devices coming out to target more of a regular user it will only grow.

On the business side, you have CIO's who wouldn't think about using iPhone as their primary business device at their company.

Cause you mentioned being scared of change. Someone who is scared of change would not be a CIO.

scared of change in a sense of changing up what everyone deems to be normal; usage of a BB in a corporate environment as opposed to introducing the iphone

Changing up the use of corporate email devices is not a CIO responsibility. It is typically the Client Servicing or Procurement division of the organization that handles this. And, it usually involves the use of the Information Security department to scope the confidentiality requirements of the organization, depending on the sensitivity of an organization's data.

Would Steve Jobs sell his iPhone on ebay? Hell No.
