Lightbulb Tcc Civic Magazine

While trying to kill sometime on my day off today I was trying to find a magazine to read. Of course they are all read by this part in the month so I was stuck but I came up with an idea!

Seeing how all the performance magazines on the market are fairly general in content (except a few ie. Honda Tuning) I thought maybe there could be a Honda Civic Magazine made by the members of TCC. From reading the posts I see that many of you are computer guys and designing a magazine would not be a problem at all. I dont think that distrubution would be that hard either. There are a few Canadian magazines on sport compacts at Chapters. Content should not be a problem either especially with all the members on the boards and the affiliates. Start up costs may be the only draw back but if all the members help out who knows. And if it was a success just think of all the affiliates that would want to get some love from TCC...

Just a thought.....

Perhaps a quarterly or bi-annual...

Magazines are alot of work...

Printing can get a bit expensive too..

I was talking about Bi-monthly or something like that. Definitly not monthly. like Modified Mag or HCI or Sport Compact National...

this idea has been passed around like a ***** on prom night

it's a great idea, but unfortunatly, in a country that only has 40 million people, of which only a fraction of them are car buffs....
of that fraction, only a fraction of them like hondas,
and of that fraction, only a handfull like civics.....
now in that handfull only a few of them want to read 'yet' another mag about civics.....

so you can see how market share could be a problem....then, on top of that, printing bi-monthly, is more expencive than going with a monthly contract, blah, blah, blah....

you can see why there is really only one or two 'import' mags and nothing that deals with specificly with civics
however, if we had all of north america as our playground...that would be a different story......
but i guess that's why we have websites

guys, what's stopping us from putting out "e-zines" boys...nothing is stopping us, it only requires a few HTML nuts, some programmers which Jugglez is clearly capable of..we can still pull this off, but I think finding content will be harder than we think it's going to be.

Unless we have like project cars, or product reviews or whatever, but not like that hasn't been tried (TCC main page articles section is empty unfortunately), but if you guys can come up with some content, I'm sure we could still build a fairly simple e-zine ...we may not get money, it'd be nice to get money, but hell, we love this sport for what it is, not because of the profit making ops right?

that's kinda hard in a way, unless we're constantly working on the car (meaning every 2months something big happens to the car) the articles won't be that interesting.

Unless, the intentions are to just make a whole bunch of DIY projects.

I mean the idea is still very feasible, but I'm just shootin problems that we may encounter.

well seeing how lots of people have different mods we could do comparisons on different brands (ie intakes CAI and SRI). just small articles to start...Engine swaps to..everyone has diff swaps on there rides. Gotta start small but if it cathes on over a year or so it could blow up and get serious investors and sponsors. For example check out URL=http://www.modified.com]Modified.com[/URL] . This KID is from Edmonton? and started his on E-zine and now just released his first magazine (Modified Mag) he opened everything to the American market b/c that's where the money is. I read about him in Staurday Star about 3 months ago and went to the website and signed up for a free year subscription of his mag.

well that does sound good, but currently right now, even in the articles section that we have...there are very few articles regarding product reviews and what not.

I know what you're trying to get at, but that means we definetely need people actually buying products like AEM cold air intakes etc (some argue a generic cold air intake is equally just as effective) That is what I worry about, but if this idea takes off, it'd be great for me to join in on this as it could act as part of my portfolio

My friend Marco is one of the writers for that mag.

I don't think bi monthly would work.....as 94EG6HB said too much work needed.

If you are very onto the idea, I could design the webpage for the magazine as well as to design the actual magazine itself (eg. structure, placement of objects etc.).

If you do get on with the idea, count me in!

It does sound like an interesting idea. Duy would be too busy with work, school and keeping our happy home up and running to take on another venture in my opinion.
We are always looking for members to get more involved, if you guys can get something started it sounds good. If you want to do it under the TCC name it would have to be pre read and approved by the admin staff. So if some members want to get something going for approval go right ahead.

Why don't you just try putting 1 issue together.

Figure out expectations and budgest.

Use that as a test pattern to figure out where to go with it.
