Sat GUYS...Expressvu

I don't have much experience with them. Expressvu came to a clients home, and mounted the dish, with dual LNB so 4 RG6 coax runs from a single dish to the basement.

Now they gave up because we prewired the house our way and the expressvu guys don't use their head and didn't bother to check the other wiring, so they said they coulnd't install it and left. I had to help the home owner out.

Anyways on 2 of the coax runs we get all the channles, from 80 or so, up to 900 range.

On the other 2 coax runs we get selective channels, like a couple of 100 channels, then it skips to 400, and then to 900. Very limited selection of channels. I also notice when it starts up it says its on transducer or something 10, and when I connect it to the other 2 feeds with all the channels it says its on number 7.

Is one of the LNB's not aligned correctly, or is there a reason for this behavior? Should the home owner call back and yell at the tech, and get him to align the dish again, or is the odd channels the HIGH DEF portion of the signals?

Any ideas.

I would get the tech out there for sure and have them look it at, it could also be a subscription error. Did you call in and register the satellite boxes when they were setup?

The boxes were already setup from their previous house. They had 3 boxes they just brought from their old house when they moved in to this new place a few days ago.

make sure there are no cable splitters connected to the cable.. the dish wont work correctly if there is

Hey loud subz .. I'll have to take a picture of my house setup.....

this is what you need. 4 wires from the sat. come into the house they go to a satelite box that mixes the signals and does whatever else it has to do with them... and then on the output of this box it goes to each reciever .. there is 3 outputs on the one I have and 6 satelite inputs (2 inputs per LNB)

I rock .. ok at the top of this page is the Multi switch you need...

http://www.bell.ca/shopping/PrsShpTv...cessories.page

have fun .... (it's not the exact same as the one I have but it works great.)

you will have to in the installation menu on each setup box select discover switch or switch setup or something like that, they have to know the switch exists..

anyways I hope this helps

dual lnb is good for only 2 boxes I thought...wouldnt they need another dish for another box?...this is what I have always noticed when "2 room systems" are sold (dual lnb, 2 recievers) anything more required another dish

edit: maybe not...gatherer got to it

imported_gatherer 01-Jun-2006 11:27 PM

no Cynical .. I have a signal LNB that I use the Multi switch to run 3 tvs off it .. I'm a cheap bastard and not getting a second LNB when I don't need too....

My brother installed expres vu satellites, and of course, he didn't work for Bell. He was subcontracted by a company the subcontracts work for Bell (essentially subcontracted twice). This also ended creating a situation where both employers denied responsibility for paying my brother.

It was even stranger however, he still had to take calls from the Bell installation center. My brother would have to argue with Bell phone staff; people who knew nothing about installation.

The pay was "piece-work", and he had to drive all over the place, and often people would fail to be at home and he couldn't do his job or get paid. Also, he had to enter so many people's houses. This is the part he hated. There are so many people who have complete disregard for there house cleaning. My brother refused to do many jobs where customers had completely filthy houses.

Bell needs improved tech support. I wouldn't expect much from install-guys, just because of the nature of their job.

I know this probably isn't helpful with your tech question, but it might give you insight into Bell's crappy service.

Don't even get me started on how lousy the basic TV package is. I want my cable back.

true words spoken nick :D

but that goes for every industry, it just happens that the service industry really gets a kick in the arse sometimes.

I too have been to many a house that the tennants are not home for the scheduled time, or have dogs that are bugging you when working and the homeowners think its fine..or your trying to work and have to move tons of furniture and crap to get access, and they give you a funny look like "why are you doing that"

oh man :D

imported_gatherer 02-Jun-2006 08:49 PM

so Matt did you manage to get it all hooked up and working?
