Obituary:
At St Peter’s Hospital on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at 11:40pm. After a long, courageous battle with brain cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, has found peace with God. Husband, best friend, confidante and soul mate of Lynda (nee Engelbrecht) for 35 years. Loving father of Ryan and fiancée Paula. Sadly missed by in-laws: Fred and June Engelbrecht; Brenda and Don, Rob and Angel, and Amanda Blain; Dave, Pat and Shari Engelbrecht; and Leah and Rory Hawman of Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary and sister Joyce of Saskatchewan. Dedicated Stelco employee in the computer field for 34 years. A giver all his life, he used his talents to help the East Hamilton – Stoney Creek Health Association, Hamilton Police Community Service, Cancer Assistance Program (C.A.P.), Royal Canadian Air Cadets, Hamilton Camera Club, Hamilton Sports Car Club, and other organizations. Greatly involved at Church of Our Saviour (Anglican) as warden, treasurer, reader and more. He enjoyed his life and loved racing cars (1972 Canadian Autoslalom Champion – B Stock), sailing his trimaran, photography, traveling the world, running, swimming, singing and dancing with the love of his life. Special thanks to the caring staff at St. Peter’s Hospital. Private Cremation at Bayview Crematorium, Burlington. A Celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens), BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 11:00AM. Reception to follow in the Solarium and Rotunda. In lieu of flowers, donations to C.A.P., Bob Kemp Hospice, or St. Peter’s Hospital would be appreciated.
