Richest phone owners use BlackBerrys

The wealthiest smartphone owners prefer BlackBerrys over iPhones. The iPhone, in turn, trumps Android when it comes to the moneyed class. But Android looks to be the people's choice among the middle class.

What's wealthy? In this case, a household income of $150,000 or more a year, according to Prosper Mobile Insights, which surveyed 25,000 respondents in June for its "Simultaneous Media Usage Survey."

In that top income category, 11.3 percent of smartphone owners said they have BlackBerrys; 10.9 percent, iPhones; and 7.2 percent, Android.

The same is true in the $100,000 to $149,999-a-year category, where 21.2 percent have BlackBerrys, 19.1 percent iPhones and 15.8 percent Android. At least in these categories, BlackBerrys are maintaining their lead, while in the real world, the devices once considered the Cadillac of smartphones have been losing significant ground to Android and Apple's phone.

The iPhone rules in households with annual incomes of $75,000 to $99,999 a year; among smartphone owners, 19.6 percent have Apple's phone, 18.7 percent, a BlackBerry, and 18.2 percent, Android.

Encryption is key with BB, but i think its all changing and over time more people may shift away from RIM.

Like most things, once people move away and their loyalty changes it is really hard to regain it.

I am also not rich, Android for me. lol

This is because of the way RIM intelligently has marketed the Blackberry. Majority of high and executive level management are given Blackberry phones by their company for it's email capability. Android phones are looking to be the future unless RIM comes up with something clever for work sync organization

Android will never be the future of business. It's the most insecure piece of **** OS on the planet. I'd rather us iOS and that's saying A LOT coming from me.

subscriber base grew 40% year-over-year and uptake of BB7 devices is pretty strong. Only time will tell.

Just recently jumped on the smartphone wagon with a BB curve through koodo. So far I'm loving it. So useful. Not just silly games and apps but actual practical, useful functionality.

lol...I guess you're easy to market to.

WOW!!! dual core CPU!!!

even though all it's good for is draining your battery since no apps need/use that much CPU.

Here's more for you:

I cannot stand Touch screens. I hate my iTouch for that reason. yes a big screen is lovely but I cannot deal with a touch screen. I love my 9700 keyboard. Haven't had any issues with this phone other than a screen going after many drops and crap happening to it. I love my BB
