Rice Calculator
I have received a few pm's about the web site that I found this at, and was asked by some of you to post it again. So here you go.
RICE CALCULATOR
Click "OPEN" when the box pops up. Then follow the instructions.
Punch in your stock HP and then add one thing at a time to see what the est. HP would be for that mod.
The 1/4 mile time thing is funny.
Tell us your HP. (don't go overboard on the sticker thing).
Mine........166HP......(that's with 2 stickers).

Wow this is cool. If I add a Type R sticker along with about 20 other various stickers my John Deer Ride on mower would have so much HP they would have to let me star in Fast & Furious 2!

yes it can.....depending on the engine.
I also said it was exagerated a bit. but I also did OcTaNeTeDdY's car, and it came real close. How do you explain this then?
the quote is engine HP, not wheel HP. so the numbers are not that bad. take 20% off the HP you get, (for the tranny lose) and it's not that far off.

Remember.. the rice calculator calculates what RICERS believe the added HP is.
In honest truth.. do you really think a cold air intake increases the HP? Think about it.. Probably not. My 2002 civic stock's intake is right at the front corner of my engine bay. Any arguments? hehe.
Bigger exhaust pipes.. Ya I guess it increases higher end but lower end.. I have my questions about cuz you remove the resinating chamber. hehe.
And STICKERS!!!! rotfl!!! STICKERS MUST GET 1000000000 HP! Quick way to get 100000000000 HP! lol
And my RiDe is MaD TyTe y0. hahahaa. Sorry. I'm done rambling this morning.

For every degree of colder air, there IS an inprovement in HP. That's why on very hot days, your cars seems slugish, and on cooler days, it seems to run better.
You should buy some books and read up on the subject......may I sugest the following?
Great info on a 5th gen si. Started off basic.......then they started with the "bolt on's". Nice thing is that they gave the before and after numbers for the different upgrades they did. This is also the book that tells you about the wheel size and horse power relationship.
Friend gave me this book as a gift when I bought my first Civic HB last year. He knew that I was not going to leave the car stock.
Great book full of info.
You can find it at Performance Improvments. $25.99....worth every penny. (at least it was to me......I got it free. )
By the way, if you think these mods don't really work, why is this tuner industry booming?

Some numbers from the book...........
1993 Si.........73,000 MILES......125HP (at the flywheel)
top speed 118 mph with the stock intake.
Did the test again with a short ram intake, (gets air from under the hood like a factory system......but does not have the restrictive baffles and tubes like the stock one). Top speed was now 119.5 mph with the short ram intake.
AEM CAI was then installed......top speed now......121 mph.
As for the temperature of the outside air........
It was 64 F.........
Short ram had an air intake temp of 88 F under the hood when it got upto speed.
AEM CAI had an air intake of 64 F.......the same as the outside air temp.
The car was allowed to cool between runs.
Funny.......the stock air box air intake was also around 88 F under the hood when it got upto speed, yet the short ram gave the car more HP to get to a higher mph. Why is this? EASY, a less restrictive air flow helps with HP.

heres another one for you! take a look at the route you stock intake makes the air go through to get to the engine. i dare you! honda makes it so theres a lower air fuel ratio and thats better economy. a cai improves your air flow giving a better fuel air. get it? also alan is 100% right the colder the air the better your engine likes it! thats why theres heat wraps and sheilds for the intake. heat from your engine is bad. also the more thats done to your car the more you'll notice from upgrades like intake and exaust.
