Protein Shakes?

I have a growing interest in body building and getting in good shape. Does anyone know anything about GNC stores and if their products are safe. And which products give you the best results as in toning shaping and musle gain. Thanks for the help:thumbup:

Here is an idea, forget about supplements and think about eating and training right instead.

I've tried tons of protein and the best I have ever had was by Whey. Im presently taking Cyto Sport -- Cyto Gainer, it's more of a protein + gainer in one, it's working quite well for me and it tastes pretty good in comparison to other crap I have taken. Im probably sticking to this one for a while.

What if people don't have the time to stuff 6 hardcore meals a day into their systems, should they go outside and eat grass?

You actually think whey protein has any benefit other than after a workout?

Ignorance is rapid these days.

LOL actually i've been told by tons of trainers that protein shakes are best taken before workouts and eating solid meals after workout is the best thing to do. So your saying protein shakes only work after workouts and not any other time of the day.

Ignorance is rapid these days indead

You just started something you can't finish..

First off, liquid meals are superior to solid meals for a number of reasons. (Applies to post workout only)

A) Whey protein has the highest biological value
B) There is nothing for your body to breakdown.
C) Faster absorbtion

When taking in solid meals after a workout, your body has to breakdown the food which can take an hour. With whey protein, since it's already pre digested, once you put it in, it enters your blood. Also after a workout, your glycogen stores are depleted so taking in a good carb/whey protein combo is best.

Taking in whey protein throughout the day is useless because since it's predigested, your body has nothing to break down If anything you'll be lucky to absorb 20% of what you put in..

Weight gainers are the worst thing, they are full of sugar and low quality whey protein.

Take that for what it's worth. Most trainers out there talk outta their ass. I work for the largest supplement company in the world and know several people with there masters in biochemestry and biology.

Yes it's hard 2 gain when you burn it by lifting a finger thats why a supplement is in order.

Im taking whey protein :) GNC is safe from what I know off hand.

After working out, your body craves protein; I have found the fastest and easiest way is to drink a protein shake.

Interesting points, im not making up what I wrote, I talk and read a lot of **** on this. I myself eat before I go to the gym, and take the shake after the gym but I only do so b/c of the schedule me and my buddy fall into.

I talked to trainers and specialists and they told me to do the opposite b/c you get energy quickly after taking a shake in comparison to eating something which takes much longer to digest so it's uselss, which I was told.

I myself am probably sticking to my schedule b/c it's working for me and the results show it.

The point is if you have time to eat all day long then DO IT!
Most people have a busy lifestyle, work/school, etc.
If you can take in a good 4 meals a day and take a few shakes to gain a considerably high amount of calories/carbs/protein depending on what you buy, then it's a good thing to do. But if your taking shakes all day eating 2-3 meals then it won't help you. I was told to take them right before you go to bed, I did so but it didn't do much to me.

There's just so much information I have taken in for a while now from trainers/specialists/body builders/reading off of sites and mags that I don't know whats right and whats wrong. There's just so much wrong information out there, it's incredible.

I say experiment on your own, if something isn't working out well, change your habits and lifestyle and most importantly, your diet. I haven't been working out for a while so the advice I give out is the advice that I was told by the professionals themselves.
