Protege 5
I test drove the MP5 today.
I think its a SWEET car. Interior looks amazing with the 2 tone. All in all i think it looks pretty nice, but i am having an issue with those HUUUUUUUUGE fogs. What do you guys think of it? |

SIR (cough cough):richslap:

MP5 is a good car. Handles very well, even better than the Honda Civic SiR. It definitely has more cargo space (even more than WRX wagon). But it does lack power compared to the SiR.
Either wait for the 4WD Turbo version, or go for the Toyota Matrix........ more room than both Civic SiR or Protege5... more power than both.. handles better than both... more utility... more reliable... etc... well you get the point. Matrix is the performance bargin of the year. Read about it in this month's Motor Trend, they pitted the Matrix against the WRX wagon & Protege 5. Matrix spanked both of them... WRX is obvioulsy faster, but lacked in everything else. But with 180HP, 6-speed close ratio gears, it's not bad at all. |
I agree with James - get the Matrix Nada - it's a sweet car if your into the wagon look...
I still say find another 2000 SiR - that's the best Civic that Honda sells in Canada... Either that or get a 2001 Prelude if you can still find one |
It looks like a cross between a focus and a new sir. I don't like it that much.
|
i think i like the MP5 the best!!:)
|
MP5 is nice Nada, and if you want it get it. I however have a liking to the Toyota Matrix myself, even found myself drooling over the last commercial.
Best advice from me is to drive as many cars in the price range your looking, to get a feel and look that you like best. |
get a Civic 6th gen hatchback and drop a b20tec in it
j/k :) but I think all those cars are pretty decent. I'd go for the Matrix if I had to chose out all of those based within that price range, though it looks somewhat butt right now with the high stance and all but ah well..who says you can't lower it? |
I really like the Protege 5! If I were to buy a car today (assuming that I didn't have my Civic) then the Protege 5 would definitely be one of the cars that I'd be looking at. The Toyota Matrix would also be up there as well.
I've never driven either so that would be a major deciding factor since I like both of their styling. If you like it then go for it, Nada! Like Michelle said, test drive all the cars in your price range. I'd say that that's the best strategy to use when buying a new car. I remember driving a crap load of cars before I bought my Civic, that was fun!! :) Good luck in your search for a car!! :nods: Oh, can't you get it without the fog lights?? |
The foglamps are big and are embedded into the bumper. And they don't make covers for them, like they do on Subaru WRXs. I guess you can replace the bumper with the standard Protege's, which would fit and look stock, without the huge foglamps.

Well, if you want my opinion on its asthetics it looks fugly however to each their own...
Its performance aspect isn't like the SiR either.. Its close, but its still not on par. I myself, if I were to buy a new car right now, would get the WRX 2 door, and then browse through my previous issues of IT and built up the turbo unit a bit. I think they had it cranking 240-250whp by the time they were done with it. Regards, OK |
How much are the MP5s and MP3s goign for anyways?
They do seem pretty nice |
although I may take some slack for this..since you are checking the compitition take a look at the pontiac vibe gt.....high reving(8000rpm) 180hp v6 not a bad car if thats what you are looking for and besides the motor is toyota tuned neways so its heart is in the right place.....I still take the SiR in a second.

Back to your original question, The MP5 is a nice ride and I actually considered one when I was buying my EL. Good luck with your search. |
Well, 3 months ago, when I was deciding on a car, I went around to the various dealerships. I drove the MP5, Vibe, Matrix, Focus ZX3, and a couple of other ones. In the end, as you know, I went back to the Civic.... which I might add, will be here in 5 days!
