Power Bar with Surge Protectors

I'm looking to get a power bar with some protection... to begin, there won't be much attached to it.. 46" LCD TV, HD PVR box, and down the road PS3... either way I would like to get something that'll be ideal for the future as well when the home theater gets "upgraded"

is this sufficient?

Stage 2 is perfect for you

I have a stage 3 and that's too much for me....im running a 42" LCD and complete home theatre; 2 dvd players and it's perfect for the power spikes

$200 fo a power bar? I have a cheapo one from FS. It was about $50 and it has never ever failed or caused a problem. The name brand cables and wires are so over priced and IMO they all do the same. All my cables are Dynex or Rocketfish.

Guys, don't buy overpriced stuff from FutureShop.

Check this place out:

www.monoprice.com

I've order dozens of times, and the quality is phenomenal. Up to par with Monster IMO, and it's ridiculously cheap.

I second this... Monster is also a ridiculously overpriced brand.

If you want to spend that much $ I would look into getting one of the protectors that goes right intoyour electrical panal and covers the whole house.

just buy a Noma power bar from anywhere...like lets get serious here...Monster Cable...hahahahahaha Ed, throw me some of that extra money you have to waste on fancy things like this...the only thing I would buy from Monster Cable is their voltage stabilizer purely based on it looking cool

With all these home theatre, tv, etc threads, I should make a sticky or discussion thread.

I kinda expected most of your responses... doesn't seem to be much love for Monster stuff... I can understand I suppose since really can one tell the dif b/w Monster stuff and something else as far as on screen PQ and SQ? probably not... which I guess doesn't justify the cost... I figured I would've saved a bit with the HDMI cables as that for sure I know won't make much of a dif, but the power bar I didn't want to "cheap out" on..

Belkin has an insurance policy on their surge protectors - up to $50,000 for all items plugged into their units, but you cannot attach two power bars together (ie Attach a cheapo power bar to the protector and the power bar somehow gets fried and kills anything running off of it).

definitely a good read Matt, thanks... so hypothetically, lets say for $100 or so what would be the "best" surge protected power bar I could get right now for my basic setup? considering at most I would maybe upgrade the sound stuff later on
