Greetings

Finally, I registered TCC and became a member. I have been reading the forum for a time period of 2 months or so. I have gained a lot of insights and info on cars and I must say that it is a hard learning curve, but I love cars, and as each day goes by, I became more involved in this topic. Aside from my work and other hobbies, I think car is something that I can relate to, on a day to day basis.

A little background about myself. I am a Landscape Architect (Designer) who graduated from U of T in 99. My first car was purchased (leased) on March 26, 2000. It is a Civic DX Hatchback, plum colour. I must say, I don't see too many of plum civic on the streets. I have seen like, 4 so far, including my own. I suppose I just wanted a different colour other then silver or black. No disrespect to others, though. I love the car and although I commune at least 80km a day, the car is still running in perfect shape. I have about close to 80K on my car.

There are no mods done to the car. Except a new bumper (I cracked mine a year after I got it, then I finally replaced it last year, Buddy Club style), short shift and that's about it. I wanted to go with a CAI (I read about it on the forum) then I read about the engine swapping and that's when I made up my mind as to what to do with my car. I am aiming for a B18C5 engine. I called Altech and asked for the price. And as most of you already know, it is close to 6G. Definitely not a small amount of money but I figure I will do that after 3 or 4 years, when my car reaches around 160 or 170K. My fiance asked me why don't you buy a sports car instead if you want to the speed and all that?? "To be stealth and not showing-off" I said. I mean, it is almost universal known that an Integra Type-R is fast, but who knows what's under your Civic? I want to drive a fast car, but I don't want people to know it.

Let't start at the red light and find out.

My fiance also said as I grow older, I should change my car, to something that suits my age. I am 2 more years away from 30, maybe something like an Accord or a mid size sedan. I know what she is saying but I am treating my Civic as a Hot Rod, if you know what I mean. Except it is an import, not a domestic. I want to build and work on it, one step at a time. She can get a car if she feels the need; I am keeping mine. But if I win the lottery and decides on getting a NSX or a S2000, that's another story.

I also went to AutoTech show on Saturday. It was my first Import Car Show experience. Some hot rides and some are just overdone, but I guess I have no say since mine is just stock at the moment.

I am a regular poster at Diabloii.net OFF Topic Forum. If you lurk there, you would know who I am. I want to come to the meeting this Wed to meet the members, just to make some new friends and broaden my circle.

Sorry if it is a long post, but I never thought I would start a "I am new" thread. Well, there is always a first time, isn't it?

Thread: Do i need a camber kit?

Post: I don't think you'll need one, cuz your stock rims

Preview: I don't think you'll need one, cuz your stock rims won't be wide enough to rub, i have a 98 coupe with 17x7 rims and 205 tires and i have the prokit and even when my car is full of people it doesn't rub......

I never had an introduction thread/post, I showed up to a westend meet and then joined the forums after...

I dunno if that was my first post... but I searched for old threads in ascending order by last posted date... so that's close enough.

I never did an intro or anything cuz I didn't give a ****.

best way to find your first post:
1) click on members button at the top
2) go through the list to select your user name
3) click on find all posts by this user
4) click on the last button when the search is done
5) at the bottom will be your first post

for me the first post was found on page 715

and here it is:

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this whole tuner/ performance thing. I got a 93 honda civic CX hatchback back in april and have spent a bunch of money fixing various issues that have come up (think I ironed out all the rough spots created from the guy that didn't even change the oil in engine) anyways I have decided that the suspension should be the first thing to go aftermarket and I was thinking of this setup:

kyb shocks

suspension technique swaybars (front and rear)

ground control sleeves and springs (for corner weighting)

anyways I decided on these after much reading of this board. I have a few unanswered questions still swimming in my head, before I commit money to this.

what spring rate should I go for with the ground controls? I want to take this car to the track but it also has to get me to work everyday (which it's done so far extremely well) and what size sway bar would give me less understeer (it's driving me nuts) your opinions on the setup that I think I'm going to go with would also be welcomed, thanks.

gatherer
LMAO I hope I don't still sound like that

and that was the start of me posting and being known as a post ***** for about 2 years before I finally settled down... at one time I was at 30+ posts per day

My first post was a "New here post".
I asked if you could post for free or if you HAD to be a member. They said, Members only get to view members lounge.
I never looked back...

ahhhh my first post is horrible, i can't believe i posted such a dumbass thing....

ok heres a question( first of all i'm new) my 99 si has a d16a6 engine(didn't even knw they put these engines in these years) does my engine have vtec, i've kicked it up to 5500 rpms and i think i felt it kick in but not totally sure, last car i was in with vtec was a teg gsr and you know when it kicks in on those cars.

atleast i knew that engine wasn't supposed to come in that car, the numbers on the block were dirty and just mixed up the last letter and number...oh well

LOL...my first post was in October 2001, TCC Forums V1, and I had been to the meets prior to that.

I signed up just to make fun of Overkill Si for heading East instead of West on the highway after the first meet at Commerce Gate!!!
