PRELUDEGIRL 30-Jan-2003 09:20 AM

this is cool :) hopefully it will teach all those bastards to stop stealing cars

CiViC [-_-] BoY ™ 30-Jan-2003 09:27 AM

I kinda like that idea
but does that mean the the cops are now going to have a pic of like every car that has the potential to be stolen (among the ones that were stolen or other cases)????

Whiplash 30-Jan-2003 09:30 AM

looks good...
let's just hope some results are seen..

imported_My Blue Si 30-Jan-2003 10:10 AM

It's about time these cops do something about stolen vehicles

imported_gatherer 30-Jan-2003 10:20 AM

I'm glad to see cops doing something about a problem that is more out of control then street racing.

sjwong 30-Jan-2003 11:18 AM

Wow, that's some pretty good technology.

imported_Team Rukus 30-Jan-2003 12:05 PM

k i think this is one of those stupid technologies that the city is paying for.
Think about it.
The camera will check up every vehicle the camera is pointed at to see if its stolen or not on the block. 1 who is gonna steal a car and park it outside their house nicely or watever? OBVIOUSLY its gonna be hidden somewhere or somewhere AWAY from their house or place they do watever at. 2 if a vehicle was stolen and dropped off somewhere i am pretty shure other people or the police would kno that because a thief aint just gonna go and park it a a right spot to make shure the car doesnt get any tickets and such and clean everything up nicely obviously they are gonna just leave the car and flee the scene. 3 if there is a case where the car was stolen the only way this system would work is if the car has been reported on time, now lets say the crusier caught a stolen car at some place but only recieved a stolen car call like 3 hours later this means they have to back track their steps to see if the camera caught anything and lets say it did and they go back to see where the car was seen last by the crusier wat makes them shure that the thief didnt park it at some other persons house and leave?

bwahahahahahahaha

Speak with a PRO. I don't think it's going to work..

cosmic zx2 30-Jan-2003 02:33 PM

Also included in their list are cars that detectives are looking for in connection with other crimes, like homicides or hit-and-run accidents..
speak with a pro? about what?

it doesn't say that it's gonna stop your car from being jacked.... it'll increAse the chances of you getting it back by about 75%

[1sL0CiviC] 30-Jan-2003 02:38 PM

what if car was towed and never reported to the cops?
lol

Rice Burner 30-Jan-2003 02:56 PM

I agree completely:dito:

imported_gatherer 31-Jan-2003 12:19 AM

all it is, is another way to gather information about the crimials. cops don't need to catch the guys stealing the cars they need to shut down the chop shops that offer money to the guys that steal cars... think about it if thieves can't get money for stolen cars whats the point to stealing them pro thieves are in it for the money. shut down the chop shops and you shut down 80 or 90% of the crime, the 20% or 10% of the rest will probably young punks going for a joy ride. but the profession car jackers will move on once the good cash stops flowing.

PRELUDEGIRL 31-Jan-2003 08:44 AM

i saw the news yesterday and they showed how it works...i personally think it's good. like what cosmic said it increases our chances of finding stolen cars about 75%.

imported_gatherer 31-Jan-2003 10:55 AM

I hope if it hits it's target of 75% recovery that the insurance costs will go down on civics.....
