Pinky's Accident

So I was driving into port dalhousie last night (Brett saw me) and there is an old man in his big boat of a car infront of me. He sees a free parking space and starts to back up. There is a car behind me so I start screaming and honking "don't back up! oh gawd don't back up!" but he does and doesn't stop and rams right into me. Then he has the nerve to get out and say "It looks fine to me" and I get out and my whole bumper is cracked. He's like "that was like that before!" so I start yelling and was like "wait let me get this straight ... you say my car enough to see that my bumper was 'like that before' but you backed right into it?! Get in your car while I call the cops". Cops come, hear his side of the story... tell him he's in idiot and give me an accident report. I'm going after this idiot for a whole new bumper and everything. What a jerk.

You have a CUSTOM paint job... The WHOLE car needs to be repainted. If I were you, I'd start looking at new colours of paint. Nothing wrong with pink, but you might like a different shade. Change it up. For a little extra, you can two tone it or and some metal flakes, etc... This sucks, no doubt, but you can get a whole new look on somebody else's nickel.

No man, you have it wrong... it is a custom paint job. You can't paint just one part of the car, the whole thing needs to be redone due to the custom colour. So the entire car needs paint or it would look like a patch-work quilt. It doesn't matter what colour it gets painted, it still costs the same. Once you go that far, it only costs maybe a $200 extra for different options (and the extra would come out of your own pocket) The guy that screwed up will oly pay for what he damaged. Not extra. I'm not suggesting that she lie or try to cheat anybody.

theres no way you can get a whole new paint job since the only damaged part is the bumper. custom or not, the painter would have given the paint mix that made that color so it should be an easy fix.

My lil EF plate was mangled and had a lil scuff outta the paint, pretty minor really.

This reminds me last year, an old dude back into my old front bumper while I was outside, telling him how far to go and when to stop.

Well he did, his car stopped when he felt the bump. Gave me a friendly wave as a "Thank You" note and drove off.

What can I say...

sometimes its not so easy man, when i bought my shell, it was missing some bodypanels. The guy i was getting the car from said "it will be easy to match the color, u just need to get them to take a picture with a special camera thing and they can mix it rite up for u". I had heard of this before so i figured it could be done. Anyways, i tried to get a local paint shop to do it and they said that due to the flake in the paint, it couldnt be matched. So i figure, "hey, ill just go to the porsche dealership where teh car was painted, they have it on record" so i went there and no luck with them either I tried my best to find the closest color possible but its still very noticeable that i have 2 different colors on my car. It is very possible that kathryn will have the same problem so she really should get a new paintjob. As should i.

and kathryn, sorry to hear about ur badluck, some people are so stupid, i had the same thing happen in my old hatch, i was trying to get into this parking place in TO and the guy was directing me over this bump i didnt quite think i could make. This is what he was saying: "your good.. your good..." CRACK! "ughh, backup" mine was worse tho because i cracked one of my fibreglass fenders as well as my bumper

Don't beleave me if you don't want. Make the calls. My good friend is a bodyman. It happens all the time. When you have a *custom colour* damaged, the whole car needs to be repainted in order for it to be repaired properly. So, whether SoP gets it painted the same colour or changes it, it will still cost EXACTLY THE SAME. No matter what... the old guy is paying for the full car to be painted. Not to mention a new bumper.

its not the guys fault that it is a custom colour, therefore neither him or the insurance company should be responsible for anything other than a new bumper cover/painting of the bumper cover.

If the custom colour is reported to the insurance company, and the insurance rate is adjusted to cover the custom body colour, then I would have no problem with painting the whole car.

Why should we all suffer with higher insurance rates because some choose to have a different colour?
