Which phone would you rather get?

LG Chocolate phone

or

the NEC L1/E949 phone?

Tego 24-Jan-2007 01:58 PM

I love my chocolate phone! Are you getting it from Telus or Rogers?

imported_DT80 24-Jan-2007 02:02 PM

will be Rogers. what are the pros/cons of the chocolate for you?

Tego 24-Jan-2007 02:04 PM

You don't get the external memory if you go with rogers I think.

imported_viper_2_4 24-Jan-2007 02:27 PM

NEC doesn't support 850 mhz (as far as I can tell) = pile of crap because you'll be dropping calls in basement like crazy...

I've never been a fan of the chocolate either...if your going with rogers I'd get that samsung slider, it looks good...

true ballers have their name on a waiting list for an iPhone (which is rumored to be coming to Rogers this year, rumored mind you)

LOL!

Iphone sure does look nice...i haven't seen what the blackberry looks like.

Cynikal.Mindset 24-Jan-2007 03:36 PM

chocolate = nice fashion phone (strippers love it)
nec l1 = garbs for sure

samsungs are pretty dumpster, the ui sucks but the screens are super nice...get a SE phone for the best of everything from rogers.

imported_DT80 24-Jan-2007 03:38 PM

the L1 is that bad? it sure looks nice. slimmer than the razr. only thing is probably the battery life and no memory slot which sucks. but i can live with these 2 cons.

Cynikal.Mindset 24-Jan-2007 03:46 PM

well the nec has no 850mhz band and that alone is reason not to get it unless u like having service coverage like in 1995. Its basically a cheap version of the razr except thinner, it does everything the v3i/t does and I bet the ui sucks on it...also have fun finding support for it anywhere since its not a north american phone...bottom line is, if u like it get it...cry when u get missed calls or cant make a call cuz u have no service

SE phones are awesome...I still have my old T616 as a backup, and its still better then most of the low end phones sold today...SE just packs in technology

Drop the $ for a Nokia N91 :D

Buddah 24-Jan-2007 06:08 PM

Neither...*edit*Couldn't remember which one it is...I remember now tho...it's the HTC (which makes O2 phones) TyTN. Currently in transport.

But, if I was forced to choose, probably the NEC e636.

Cynikal.Mindset 24-Jan-2007 06:13 PM

that atom is gonna have shoddy coverage due to no 850mhz band...but sometimes people need to learn this for themseleves...if it wasnt that much of a case then I would still have my se w900i but missing calls in malls and at home isnt worth having a cool phone

Or the N93i is nice too.

imported_climax 24-Jan-2007 06:16 PM

I have a guy on my hockey team, they got to try out the IPhone at work.. He said it was very cool and nice, but not sure how long that screen is going to last..

he said even if you clean your hands before every use, its still going to get smudged because of the touch screen and the phone seemed a bit flimsy.. but overall said a very cool phone.

BTW, im with telus, well my company is.. were switching soon, telus is not very good.. lol

Buddah 24-Jan-2007 06:18 PM

Or how about the LG KE850 Prada? That's sick too.

I don't know...its possible, but I'd have to call BS on your friend...

you sure it wasn't this http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/15/t...ble-chocolate/

I haven't heard of anybody (reviewers, industry insiders) getting an actual hands on with the iphone yet, but I could be wrong

Cynikal.Mindset 24-Jan-2007 06:21 PM

that LG also lacks 850...thus crap coverage...all the cool phones are made for the euro/asian market which doesnt use 850 at all so they all work like dreams there but bring them here and the minute you leave a downtown core ur screwed...even in square one u get nothing...in grocery strores u gotta be near the perimeter...850 is what rogers/fido relies on for its superb coverage and call quality

Buddah 24-Jan-2007 06:25 PM

True, but, that's why I'll be using the TyTN soon.:D

Cynikal.Mindset 24-Jan-2007 06:29 PM

Well I was going to ask him at hockey this week but he didnt show up..

now, he doesnt get to keep it, they just had a demo at their office for a day.. Only got to try it out..
Ill ask him where he works..He might be at a head office for a carrier of the phone or something, I never asked.

We were talking about cell phones and he had mentioned that the had a demo iphone at work for a day..
Ill ask him next time I see him.

When is it supposed to come out?

lol still bull****. Even if another carrier had it (let alone a canadian carrier) Cingular has a designated contract that they are the sole providers of the iphone for a long time. It will be out in June of 07 but in canada? maybe Spring 08 if your lucky.

imported_ashtonp24 25-Jan-2007 01:46 PM

Yup, the iPhone is facing a lot of legal battles in Canada from Nortel and Comwave, it won't be out here for a long long time.

imported_Zyepher 25-Jan-2007 09:18 PM

It will be America, Europe, Asia then maybe canada. Try out the N80 such a dirty phone. If I didnt have a free telus phone I would switch to rogers like asap.

Xscorpio 25-Jan-2007 09:44 PM

well apple iphone got sued and still in court battle with cicso.

iphone is a registered trade mark under cisco...and they are the one that came out with it at first, thats what i heard.

imported_Zyepher 25-Jan-2007 09:46 PM

We'll see how far that takes em.

imported_climax 25-Jan-2007 11:21 PM

Ill ask him on tuesday what he used then.. Im not sure what field he is in or anything.. He may be confused..He just said he got to try out the iphone, not with a phone call though obviously because no carrier..

Either way, after our company contract ends with telus, our company is switching.. lol
The company my mom works for had the same phone we have (telus 'Mike') and they switched to.. I dont know exactly why they switched...

But the company im working at is switching for many reasons one of them being the crappy coverage were getting in the area.
How can you get crappy coverage at the 401/hurontario.. lol
