Passport Pictures!?!

I heard today that the goverment wants the passports we get to have us with a straight face.......no smiling or froans.

I understand about the froans, but what's wrong with a little smile? It's not a fuqken prison picture for fuqk sakes.

And they said something about people that were smilling in the passports they have right now, are supposed to get a new one with a more serious face in the pic.

I thought that a passport was good for 5 years? Who's going to reinburse us for the cost of a new one?

Anyone else hear about this?

If it is true, no big deal........ I have to renew mine this year anyways. :)

Notorious 28-Aug-2003 10:07 PM

Whats up with that?? No smile/froan. Geeze...they want mug shots for everything these days!

h_accordexr 28-Aug-2003 10:08 PM

ya it was always like that your supposed to have a serious face i dont know why.

PULOVR 28-Aug-2003 10:16 PM

I have a slight smile in mine. Fuqk them, if it wasn't for the fact that mine expires this year, there would be NO WAY in hell I woulkd go get a new pic.

They can kiss my....http://drewshow.wtks.com/drew_photos...3/IMG_0001.jpg

And when I go get my new one, I'll have the same look as I do now........a slight smile..........why not, I use the damn thing for going on vacation. Wouldn't you smile if they were going on vacation too?

:nods:

its common sense.
when do u ever go to an airport and smile at the person in the front while ur handing ur passport over? never yea thats rite..
and with all the fake passports, and fake immitators pretending to be others they have to do this. i for one am up for this law.

Notorious 28-Aug-2003 10:39 PM

hahahahaha.. Mr. Bean's jokes, and his teddy bear. Oh man, the memories!

PS: Some great mug shot ;)

1niceSi 28-Aug-2003 10:41 PM

I just applied for my passport.....it will be ready on Sept 10th.

I wasn't smiling in my photo.

However, the teller was hesitant on accepting the photo because there was a shadow behind my ear.

WTF.

PULOVR 28-Aug-2003 10:43 PM

Or how about this one?

I sometimes wonder what the goverment is thinking.

How many of you hate the fact that you have to go in every few years to get a new pic for your health card? I hate it.

Everytime I'm heading to a nice warm destination in winter, and I know the guy/girl has to stay here in the miserably cold.

I know even you would smile at that thought. :p

Yup, it's true. By coincidence, I was on the Canada Passport web page just a couple days ago and I was looking through their photo specs for passport photos. At the bottom of the photo specs page it says that it was updated August 25th.

These specs are copied straight from their web page:

- Either black and white or colour photos are acceptable.
- Photos must be originals, not taken from any existing photo.
- Photos must be taken against a plain white to 18% grey background without shadows. An 18% grey background is recommended for persons having white hair and/or wearing white clothing.
- The face must be square to the camera with a neutral expression and with the mouth closed.
- A full front view of the subject's head and shoulders is required.
- Tinted prescription glasses may be worn as long as the eyes are clearly visible.
- Sunglasses are not acceptable.
- False hairpieces or other cosmetic devices are acceptable if they do not disguise the natural appearance of the bearer and are worn habitually.
- A photo in which the applicant is wearing a hat or head covering or anything that interferes with the photo's value in providing a means of identifying the issuee for the benefit of border control is not acceptable for a Canadian passport or travel document. While allowances may be made for practitioners of religious faiths that prohibit the removal of the head covering, photos in which the full facial features of the subject are not visible are not acceptable.

photos in which the full facial features of the subject are not visible are not acceptable.
So I guess a person with a beard would have to shave it.........what's the use of that? They would just regrow the damn thing again. :p (relegious allowances are allowed)

And the neutral expression thing..........

Stupid rules.

I also heard the reason why they want to do this is so the programs that can recognize faces can be used with more accuracy. Somebody has forgotton to tell the goverment that DRIVING across the boarder of Canada and US, they ussualy don't ask for any type of ID.

We will see when I get mine done. :)
