Parking on private property question

My neighbors park 5-6 cars on their property, but the guy goes over the curb to park on the grass within 1ft of the road. Now i know its private property, but isn't the first couple of feet considered crown land? The house is renting a few rooms and there is only really enough parking spaces for 3-4 cars, so the other two park on the grass. Usually I wouldn't care, but you know how some people are slobs and leave **** all over, tear up the grass and they are damaging the curb too.

Is there any parking by-laws or laws against this? It is their own private property, but the curb and parking 2 cars on the grass within a foot of the road makes me think it may be illegal.

anyone know? I'm asking for my girlfriends parents who want to do something about it.

thanks guys. I don't know if they are going to go so far as it bitch and complain, because they try not to cause ****, but atleast i can tell them the right direction.

These people are slobs, you know the people who cut the grass once every 2 months in the summer, **** all over, now the curb/grass.

in toronto (might be all of Ontario) the driveway space between the curb and the sidewalk is considered crown or at least a no parking zone.

if there is no sidewalk then they are allowed to legally park to the curb.

again this information is based on my experience in toronto due to Nieghbours that would do the same thing (and actually block us in our driveway since the drivways are shared) it was funny when I got got the cops to come a tag and tow a vehicle out of my way so that I could get out to go to work.

I posted a thread about parking between the curb and sidewalk earlier this year. My car blocks half the sidewalk. EVERYONE said i'd get a ticket.

However, till now I still haven't received a ticket. LOL. And I know parking enforcers have come around my area often because there are 2 apartments on my street and they always go to the apartments at 2 am to issue tickets.

Anyways, in regards to your question. I've seen people pave some of their front lawn to make more room for parking. Actually, a lot of people in my area do that.

let say i think we have to rights to park anywhere the government doesn't shovel the snow... ie. the government shovels the sidewalk, i won't park there... but whichever spot, the government doesn't give a damn about to clean up the snow or whatever, they shouldn't claim its crown property...

this once happened to the pice of driveway between the sidewalk and the curb... well, there was one winter, we didn't clean it too well, so guy rang our bell and said "that's your piece of driveway, so shove it well and don't harm anyone, or i'll report this". then i was clueless... if that is my driveway, its my property, why da hell i have to shovel it just because you want to "step" onto my property? well, i just know... if you making me responsible for whatever piece of land, then i say its my right to do whatever to it... i can park there... see i know the sidewalk is for the public, so i have no rights to block the sidewalk, and its not responsibility to shovel in the winter (its just i'm nice, so i do it), its government's job... now coming to the grass issue... unless government is gonna mow that piece of grass in the summer, they don't deserve it... but i guess, law is law.... that's why there's "holes" in our law system... some rules/regulations just don't make sense!!!
