New to board just saying hi

Hi everybody

nice to finally find a local club (well sort of local for me).
Lots of great tips in the forums. Now I can find where all the T.O. shops are that everyone goes to, I'm so tired of all the wantabe's in my area.

Just waiting for tmak to get back to me and I'm sending my money!
It will be about a month or so before I can get to a meet do to work and my car looks like crap right now.

Anyone know a place where you can get rims straightened? I have a rim that wobbles when its on the balance machine, wondered if it was fixable?

yea I guess I should just get new rims as the rubber needs replacing too.
Two of the tires the side walls have split right around the whole tire, its weird cause I know that they weren't like that when I put them away in the garage last fall, I guess the temp changes caused them to split

Maybe I should just go back to 15" wheels.

I did the GSR back brake conversion on my HB and have all the parts for the front conversion but have not done it yet cause I have a split CV boot and thought a swap would go nicely with the GSR front brakes.

Anybody have a set of LS rims for sale with worn rubber at a reasonable price? I could use them for the summer then put winter tires on them next fall as I would rather put the money right now into the swap.

Hey thanks for the welcome everyone

Nobody's got any LS rims for me?

Who are the shops in T.O. that do the swaps on 5th gen, do good work and are honest. I have already been through one messed up swap attempt and am still trying to get my motor back

Well it's partly my fault for being a stupid idiot....
I started going to this local shop.
I got my shocks springs swaybars rims etc everything there, and the guy who owned the place seemed like a really nice fellow.. I got to know him over 2 years of buying stuff from him.

Anyway I mentioned to him one day that I would like to do a swap on my civic and he asked me what kind of motor I wanted I told him I would like a B18c, 94 or 95 cause my HB is a 93.
He said they could be hard to get but he would search around for me and see what he could come up with. about a month goes by and he called me up and said he could get me a motor, tranny etc and it would cost 4000.00 bucks plus install. He assured me that the motor was legit but I needed to pay him upfront...
Yea yea I know what your thinking and I do know better, but after dealing with him over the past 2 years and never having a problem and the great customer service he gave me I kinda let my guard down.

So I gave him the 4000.00 bucks and he said it would be in about a week, a month goes by then another, he's always got a excuse why the motor is not in. Finally he said he was looking for another motor for me cause the first one didn't have any papers and he was concerned about where it came from.
About this time I started getting that churning in the pit of my gut you know that I think I've been screwed feeling.
Well I think it was about 2 weeks after that he phoned me up and said he had the motor!!! come down and take a look at it.
I got there and there it was my very own B18c. It's beautiful, it's massive, hey it's missing the drive shafts, distributor, ecu, engine mounts plus a few other things. WTF is going on I ask him? Not to worry he says the other parts are comming in next week.
Well that turned into something like another month and a half then one day I went down to his shop and guess what he's closed up!!!! and the missing parts still weren't in :fustrated

A couple days later I got a call from him saying he was going through some finacial difficulties and had to close the shop but he still has my motor and it's in his friends garage and he was looking for a place to do the swap for me.
Needless to say that never happened, and I let it drop over the winter as I lost my enthusiasm and money.

Finding this board has got me back on it and I have located his parents place, so I think I will give them a call and find out where he's at and maybe I might be able to get my motor or whats left of it.
That's my reason for asking who does good swaps cause if I have to start from scratch I want it to go smoothly this time as I don't want it to turn into the most expensive B18c swap ever done on a civic.

Damn that sucks! I hope you can get your money back.... maybe someone here knows the guy. What's his name?

Well we've got RT MotorSport and KSR as affiliates and they've done swaps for a number of our members. Check them out.
