Need opinion on possible new car.

Well modding the mx6 is kewl, but everyone knows that you cant mod a car unless its in top mechanical order.

Anyways, I talked to insurance company they said a honda s2000 is gonna run me about $11,500 per year. The mx6 runs me around 9 per year. But im soon switching and it will be around 5500.

Anyways, a friend of mine found me 2 sweet s2000's at an auction a red one one for just over $23,000 and a yellow one for $30,000 flat. Both have had 1 owner, the yellow will run higher insurance though. They are both soft tops. The red one needs a new front bummer and the rad support needs to be bet back (collided with some pick up) and the headlights are okay except for the drivers side which is kinda cracked. Its a 2000 model year with 14,000 km on it.
The yellow one is also a 2000 year, the rims must be rounded out because the passenger side is bent. The top needs "help" closing. Needs a new paint job.

Alot of people know I like red...think is worth it to sell the 6 and get the s2000...i dont drive either in the winter anyways. And ive only put 10,000 km on the 6 in 2 years.

I took this pic from autotrader so you can get an idea of what im deaing with.

There is one in the autotrader for i think $42,000 with 8,400km on it. Its the same one as in the pic.

I wont have both cars...its just one or the other....im partial to the mx6 because it is suppose to be built in november. Plus im turning 19 and its kinda weird to drive an s2000 at my age, unless your dad is the ceo of a marketing firm and your mother is a trader in the TSE.

You have got to be kidding $9000 for 6 months driving in the MX6? That is absolutely nuts....talk about getting bend over.
That sucks

How can you afford a S2000 + Insurance, but you can't afford your own cell phone line?

I'm kinda confused here..

shokker you nut lol.......i have my own cell phone....but i sleep most of the day lol.....and people call me...im not able to pick up.....get the picture......im being chraged when they leave messages.

the 9 grand is fr the entire year...with full coverage......if i put just fire and theft on it dring the winter months it goes down to 8g's flat. The reason is becase i have 2million dollar coverage on the vehicle...i have no clue how it works....i leave that up to th parents....and i have like a 1000 deductable.
$5500 is the quote from state farm.

if i take insurance off comletely during winter months and something happens im in shyt......plus when you go to put insurance back on you are charged for taking insurance off before the cycle is done.

the 11,500 is from dominion of canada....but if i go to state farm they said 10 if its silver black or red.....11 if its yellow.

ultimately the parents decide on this....keep in mind it may sound cheap BUT the cost of a new bumper and rad support and headlights is gonna cost alot, how much i dont know.....im trying to do as much research as possible before the bidding opens friday on the car.

oh yeah 1998 1.6 el with leather interior for $1600! needs new tails lights, windsheild, rad support, headlights, rad, hood and driver side door handle and locking mechanism.

PS: clean record...but i live in an area known for high import car theft

Man......Your family must be wealthy still!!!

Insurance for me alone is like 7g's on a civic, but I can't afford that. So I do the typical Mom or Dad as primary thing. Now pay 1200. Have fun with the S2000 tho! Lucky guy! I'm still trying to pay off my civic....

Naw dude, my family nor myself are by any means wealthy, if anything we do well for ourselves you could say.
See 3 cars three primary drivers...so thats why my mx6 insurance is high, cuz im the primary driver. I want both cars, the sentimental value of the mx6 is high cuz it was my first car. But te s2000 is too pretty. I wanna try and get both, thats alot of *** kissing ad promises I dont think I could do or own up to. But we will see, i will let you guys know the verdict tonight as my mom is going to talk to the insurance agent.
If anything you might see me drive it but my dad has shown a keen interest, as he is getting older and his accord is gonna bite the bullet soon, his perspective on it, is that he has the shyttiest car out of the 3 of us. I do miss our navigtor though, unfortunately we bought the mx6 instead of renewing the lease on that big thing. Impractical if you ask me, its so high I look sort beside it and it wouldnt fit in our garage.
But i love my ride, but I wanna have my own feel of some high lift VTEC cams.

anyways you guys will be the first to know...but riding in style in an s2000 at 19 is priceless

Get a 2002 golf 1.8T then chip it / 3" turbo back / twist the boost to 1.5 bars and not lose your warrenty / open up the Shield to the intercooler / blow off and controler and you'll rip most cars out there

Gti VR6 owners are kicking them self cuz the 1.8t is faster

ok everyone here is the info...s2000 for insruance confirmed comes in at a whopping $11,937 per year. And from what I have been told many dealerships are looking at buying this s2000 (red one)...so since the opening bid for it is $23,000 what are the chances that I would actually get it for that? really low. As soon as I bid, some dealer with wads of cash will step in and out bid me.
This is what ive decided, since an s2000 in all is amazing power and its status symbol is impractical, being a 2 seater and all and the fact i couldnt compete with a dealer i say scrap that stupid idea.
Instead, i go friggin nuts again on the mx6, but only drive it once and a while. When the car exterior wise and engine wise is set, i wont drive her as much. Instead, from being around all you civic owners with their insufficeint torque and pencil thing rods i have decided to get a civic.
From riding in the almighty ray's car, sean would like a hatch!
Now, eventually the bug will bite...i want a hatch that isnt an si which i could still do a b18c1 swap...is this possible or do I have to get the si model? what hatches can this be performed on? i like both the one that ray has and the one that civic boy has. So if i got either one of these in a lower trim model like a dx can i swap a b18c1 in it...the reason is i wont mod this car for a long *** time as it will b a yearly beater...and i want cheap insurance cuz with the mx6 its high...but i do like my power locks and windows and sunroof.

Help me out which gen i should get and what trim type, i will swap no matter what.

I should purchase the car as soon as winter hits so around late november.

a swap is possible in any trim of civic.
all depend on what gen you like.

as cluster said, the VX model is the lightest trim you can get if your out for speed. no power options whatsoever. but i dont think it really matters if your gonna take off those options anyway onec you drop a motor in.

it's up to you.

if you really wanted those options just add them on later hehhee... sounds stupid, but you get what you want right!

anyways, S2000 to Civic is quite a HUGE leap...but by buying a Civic, you will definetely have a WAD of leftover cash to build up your car to ****! hahahaha...but that's based on the assumption that you were going to spend roughly $25,000 in buying the S2000 (possibly even more).

I guess if you don't want to spend that much on fixing body panels and stuff..then get an 6th gen, but if you don't mind that and yo'ure possibly going for some custom paint, get a 5th gen hb Either way, they'd both be really nice
