yep ... cigettes can't sponser sporting events so we lose sporting events....

seriously they should up the tax to cover the health care costs per user of cigerettes and then let them sponser racing it's good for the economy ... see my not allowing the sponsership the cvigerette companies will be forced to just keep all that money in the bank ... gaining interest and doing nothing and not going back into the market place ... ohhh well

Up the tax? Jeeeeeeeeez. It's already like 75% tax. :smoker:
What I'm more worried about, is that the Gorvernment can dictate to a company that they cannot advertise a completely legal product. Their advertising is actually giving something back to the comunity, in these cases. Who else is going to support the arts?
Let's be honest here, Cancer doesn't go away overnight when smokers quit. What are some of these doctors going to do when they actually have to diagnose someone with out the scapegoat of smoking. I've actually seen doctors do this. As soon as a person tells the doctor that they smoke/ used to smoke, they stop and blame most ailments on that fact. :crazy:

When the majority of smokers quit, what are they(gov) going to hit up next to get their tax revenue? To tell you the truth, that scares the begeezus outta me.
Can anyone say $15.00 for a six pack? How about $40.00 for a forty of Rye? We all know that drinking is bad for you so lets cut advertising, up the taxes, and encourage everone to stop. Hmmmm, maybe then we can hit up Mcbloats and Burger King, because they cause obesity and the subsequent health ailments associated with it.:fustrated :drunk:
I guess that the government is just looking out for my weak willed self. I can't control myself when I watch an ad, I just gotta have it. :D I do see the correlation though. Watching a race makes me want to go out and by smokes. LMAO:drivesafe

Jay, smokes used to be $2.50 with normal tax, and profit for the company too.... now they are $7.50 most places... that's $5.00 of tax money for every pack a person buys. There are 30M ppl in canada, 25% of which we'll say smoke... if they buy one pack per week ... well you do the calculations.

I like the idea of no cigarette ads.

However, why does everything in this country have to be managed by an iron fisted bureaucracy? Belgium, too, has a no cigarette ad policy, yet, it managed to modify the law so that its great Grand Prix can run. Imagine if it was the Leafs or Canadians. The lawmakers would have had that law turned in a heartbeat!
