loooookaaa - look here - BB Curve with WiFi

Does anyone know when this will be coming to Canada?? It's already out in the states apparently...

Looking to upgrade from my Pearl, I don't want a full BB and I REALLY want the WiFi feature... letting me browse the net when i'm around wireless networks without having to use data thru rogers...

it wouldn't surprise me if Rogers didn't get the Wifi version...they haven't been particularly friendly to phones equipped with wifi...

Good luck with WIFI, I haven't found a usable connection in the last year or so...
People are smarter now and lock them down...

I agree, its way cooler sounding, then it actually is...

Whenever I'm downtown, I see like 30 networks, I can never connect to any of them...

sometimes you luck out and find someone who doesn't lock theres, or a cafe that offers free access, but its rare...

Same here. I can't believe people still use open networks.

^ i'm not to worried about it, I have wifi @ home, at all my friends' places, and at work ...

So the only time I'd need to hope to find a network is when i'm driving - when i'm sure I could do without WiFi...

luka did you get yours thru work? or did you have to order it from the states?? ... how about hooking me up?

I assume the rogers firmware will block that option and you have to use there data plan instead.

unlocked means you can use fido instead of rogers. You might have to do a whole firmware change instead.

I heard with the K790a there's a lot more toys with the non-rogers firmware. As soon as I find a free copy to download I'm flashing my phone.

if I "looooose" it they simply block the PIN on the relay and render it useless.

I think most BB users would also...since to actually use a BB properly you need a data plan, wifi is only nice for big web pages and speed, for the rest of your usage (email), wifi isn't as good...

its not just data though

T-Mobile users can use wifi to make calls too which is pretty cool

GPS overall in my eyes is more useful

Ya, I've seen the t-mobile wifi@home or whatever its called, that is very cool...

I have Wifi on my phone, its cool, but not nearly as useful as it seems...honestly, you use it more at home then anything when your too lazy to go get your laptop...

^^ why do I need GPS for? I have GPS in my car...

I guess if I traveled around the world for business like europe and stuff then GPS would be handy, but other than that... meh.

that's exactly what i'd want to use it for too viper - when i'm @ home or @ a friends... I'd still use my data plan for e-mail and stuff but seeing as unlimited plans are a few decades from the realm of being 'affordable' thanks to the lack of competition on the Canadian market and Rogers monopolizing the friggin GSM market wifi could help keep those costs down...
