In September of 2007, I was assaulted in my home by my College roomate's mother.

What Happened:
I moved out with my college roommate who was a friend from high school. We moved into an apartment under my name only. We were attending the same college. The day after we moved in, my roommates mother showed up at my door, with her belongings, and attempted to move into my apartment. Her reasoning behind this was, her husband didn't trust her daughter alone away at school, so she was sent there to watch over her daughter. Being a one bedroom apartment, in a student building, my landlord caught wind of this, and told me to have her leave, or else i'd risk getting kicked out of my apartment, because three people was not permitted, and it was a student-only building. I had later asked my roommates mother to leave kindly, I explained why, and after doing so, she proceeded to attack me. She punched me many times in my head, pulled out alot of my hair, she dug her fingernails into my face, blackened my eye, pulled my hair back and forth, causing neck pain for a few months after the assault, then left me in my apartment alone, bleeding and bruised, and drove back to Toronto, where she lived. The assault happened in Hamilton, where I attend McMaster University. A school friend arrived, cleaned me up, and took me to a police station, where I reported the assault, and took pictures of the physical results. This mother was arrested at her home that night. A few months later I agreed to a peace agreement, and a restraining order against her. During the assault she threatened my life continuosly, and since then i've received numerous threats from her immediate family, stopping only a month ago. Since the assault i've been mentally unstable, constantly looking over my shoulder, having a hard time sleeping, and just emotionally damaged from the initial assault. I'm also left with permenant scarring on my face, that is going to cost me almost $5000 to get completely removed.

What are my options in this case? Can I sue in small claims for the $10,000 maximum here in Ontario. What can I do, if anything, to receive compensation?
