Home Sweet Home....

ive lived on my own since i was 21-22 just wondering outta the masses who browse here .. who lives on thier own as opposed to living with the rents still ...

living on ur own has sooo many benifits . ie not having to get a hotel room when u have girls coming over HAHAHAHHAHA :naughty: :naughty: but i guess at the same time if u got rich rents .. livin off em cant be that bad ...

RDub99 24-Aug-2006 01:22 PM

I still live at home but my parents don't anymore hahaha

Connie 24-Aug-2006 01:25 PM

Smart move Brad :)

Its so hard once your on your own trying to save up for anything let alone a house. Dennis and I have lived together since we were 18, and on our own since 20. Its going to take us forever to save money to own our own place. I mean we have a townhouse (rented) right now, so its not that bad. But with bills and everything, plus rent. Theres really not that much money extra to save.

imported_Cablerat 24-Aug-2006 01:26 PM

I'm with the rents, however I've bought 2 homes while there..

Should be moving out within a year or two. Once the empire is established, I'm on easy streak!!

imported_Moe_Mentum 24-Aug-2006 01:27 PM

I live at home.. but my parents are never there anyway so no when I move out there's only going to be cons instead of Pros.

ya i figure i can bare living here for a few extra years and when i do move out, go straight to a house instead of renting... im 23 now.... so i figure by the time im 25 ill be out...

cibs 24-Aug-2006 02:12 PM

i'm in the same boat as brad... saving up to buy a place, i couldn't stand paying rent... like connie said if u pay rent it's really hard to save up for a place... i'd rather live @ home till i have a nice sizable downpayment to put down on a place and then buy a place... ... i live at home with just my mom so ther'es no point in me moving out right now, i can do anything i want pretty much as it stands now...

can u slam the **** outta girls in ur room ? or would u have to book a hotel room to do that ?

cibs 24-Aug-2006 02:24 PM

to me working around when my mom's not home, and using the basement the other times, is worth OWNING a house in a few years... i'd rather own a house a few yrs down the road than look back on my memorable years of slamming girls when i'm still renting a place at 40 yrs old..

The Prophet 24-Aug-2006 02:24 PM

i have a back door leading right into my basement apartment at home....
so thats not an issue right now....

Connie 24-Aug-2006 02:26 PM

I highly doubt we'll be 40 years old and renting. Really whats the big deal anyways, I mean you pay for a house or you pay rent, you still get to live there. lol... You work all your life to pay off your house and then you die.

I know you get to work on houses, and you have equity. But I can make any place our home :)

You will all own houses one day.. your very smart to stay at home as long as possible. :)

cibs 24-Aug-2006 02:30 PM

^^ i wasn't referring to you connie... i'm sure you guys won't be renting at 40

i don't intend to work my whole life to pay off my house and then die... i want to have my house paid off quickly, maybe have two houses going at once, renting one out so it's paying itself off, paying for the other one... while buying a cottage too...

but the difference is the equity you build in a house... renting gives you a place to stay but say something happens and you have to leave you're left with nothing... if a house and something happens you can sell the house and get ur cash and then do whatever with it... (minus the interest paid on ur mortgage) .. owning properties is like an investment...

see the thing is that before you die you retire... if you've been renting this whole time, you have to keep making monthly payments... i want to enjoy my retirement, i can sell some of the houses live at the cottage for some years, or sell off the cottage and live at home comfortably

imported_gotti78 24-Aug-2006 02:30 PM

I dont understand I was out when I was 17 and still was able to have a car plus pay for college and then pay for my wedding all on my own. And now after being married 2 years jus bought a house and I'm 27. Yo if u can do it thats great but I remember Apartment shopping in grade 10 and 11!!!

lol i know you weren't referring to me, I was just commenting on your comment.

Yeah I know equity and all that, gets you into the market. One day we'll have a house... Going to get my credit up to excellent so then we can qualify for ZERO down!

Or I am going to move back to windsor and buy. Its way cheaper there to buy houses... Unlike Grimsby.

imported_TuttiGirl 24-Aug-2006 02:33 PM

Even when I was living at home I was paying rent... no point so I moved out... now Im with my love :)

and Connie youre not moving to Windsor! :box:

cibs 24-Aug-2006 02:33 PM

it's definitely possible but it's all about trade-offs and sacrifices, what you give priority to because we're all on fixed incomes... maybe you didn't have as nice a car as you wanted because you'd rather live on your own, maybe you didn't go out 7 times a week because you wanted to pay for college... etc..

it's all about tradeoffs... anythings possible..
