hello everyone!
Hey everyone, my name is Andre and I hail from Buffalo, NY. I found out about you guys from TorontoAccordClub, as I had a 5 speed 94 Accord lx (ex to you guys) until last week. I had it for a little over a year. Now I just got a white 5 speed 92 Civic cx hatch. It has some rust on the driver's side rear quarter panel though, so I'm gonna take out the 5" angle grinder, take care of that, then have the car painted. Possibly black. I thought championship white, since I wouldn't have to paint the door jams, but my other car will potentially be championship white.
Which brings me to my next point; I also have a '71 datsun 240z. It's a pos right now. I have stripped the interior, taken off the back brakes, and now I am just starting my project. My rear disc conversion should arrive soon enough, and I am swapping an r32 rb26dett (skyline) motor in there. This is going to be a looong project, and I am on a tight budget for it lol.
I also have an 88 civic dx hatch, 4 speed (lol) that I bought a few weeks ago. It just needs new seats, a few hoses, and a battery. I basically just bought it to sell it.
The 92 civic is my daily driver. besides paint, tint, and maybe exhaust, and the system that I used to have in the accord (two 12" round kicker solo's with a kicker xs 850 amp and stinger 1 farad digital cap) and a compustar alarm, (I had one on my accord, I LOVED it) I will pretty much leave it stock. I will eventually get a b18c5, and itr suspension and brakes for it, but the 240z consumes so much of my money, this seems rather far off.
Sorry to type so much, just wanted to make the formal introduction, and tell you guys about myself. enjoy

heh. yeah, it is quite an expensive project though. I've arranged to get the motor from tom (turbo-hyundai) I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with him. But the only ecu I could find is a used Veilside ecu in Malaysia, which is going to set me back $450, plus $120 shipping! It will all pay off though, I am looking forward to getting the car done. It will take at least a year though, but it will be worth it!

Yeah, NICE projects...I used to work on my buddys 280ZX... I was 15 at the time, and he was 18 I think. We bought a 240Z for parts, and then sold it to another buddy later....long story short, blown engine...ended up junked. Too bad, I love those cars!!

heh. these cars are actually a legacy in my family, lol. My dad picked up a '71 in '79 for a few hundred bucks, did a total restoration, (it was rusted and whatnot) and it has been beautiful ever since. He also got a '72 with no brakes, that he has since been restoring. now it is almost done, it is in primer and needs paint, and it needs new carbs. In '85 someone hit his 240z. Since the insurance co. couldn't find a rear hatch to replace it, they just gave him the $500. He ended up seeing a z driving around, offered the guy the $500, took the hatch from it, and he then gave the car to me. finding another rear hatch is a lot easier these days, the internet is a wonderful tool. It has some rust, so I bought new foor pans and frame rails for it.
My dads is nicely modded. removed emissions controls, 280z 5 speed tranny, rims, koni struts all around, front and back sway bars, front and back strut bars, powder coated valve cover, exhaust, the car is a gunmetal color.
My uncle has a '73 240z with removed emissions, it's dropped 2", he has racing seats, flares, a g-nose conversion, dual weber carbs, and some other goodies.
the reason for my family's obsession with this car is that they were sooo cheap. I don't think anyone paid over $1000 for any of them. They did all the restoration work themselves, and now 240z's are being apprasied at $18,000 U.S.

Welcome.
I suggest you get the rust cut out in the rear fenders, and new metal welded in before you paint the car, or else the rust will come back.
Good luck on it.
