Guys are you willing to take her last name?

This day in age, its not uncommon for a guy to take the girls last name in marriage, but would you guys do it? Would you drop your whole last name and go with hers, or at least compromise and make a hypenated last name?

I wouldn't do it unless my last name was something weird and I wanted to change it.

Isn't that the same thing as having a Chinese man named Richard?

would a changed last name really be that different

i wouldn't change my own last name...when i got married told my wife she can keep her last name....but she wanted to take mine.

hyphenated names are a little ridiculous unless its part of your culture (like Spanish people)

IMO

I agree with you. Hyphenated names are stupid IMO. Too friggin' long. I would rather take my wifes last name then have a stupid hyphen. Well unless if her last name was something weird like "butt" or something. lol

my last name is hyphenated. my mom was an only child, so that family name would have ended with my grandfather if my mom had taken my dad's last name. I don't expect her to take my last name, but I wouldn't take hers.

so to answer your question, hell no.

No - I'm the only male with my last name in Canada - if I took her name my last name would be done for...

How do you verify something like that?

No, I wouldn't take her last name, but she can choose to keep it herself.

aside from google, 411 and the other things my uncle ( I guess he's a male technically but he's like 70 so not having kids anytime soon and he has 2 daughters) worked for the gov't and spent some time trying to find people with our last name anywhere in NA ... basically the only people left are in europe and there's not that many of them even there...

If someone wants to hyphenate their name thats their own doing, you can't call them stupid for doing it. Just because you don't like doesnt make it stupid, just don't do it.
