not if you weren't a resident of canada at the time. spend less than 1/2 the year in canada, and you should be okay. speak to an accountant first.

just remember it's a muslim country, with muslim laws. it will be a little more lax than a lot of other places, but a lot of things you can do here, would be a bad idea there. ie: being drunk in public.

the money is amazing though. i would ideally go there for 5-10 years, save everything, and chill out for the rest of my life... with a low stress job i enjoy.

I agree.. totaly different lifestly... but money is great .

5-10 is a lot of years.... Go there for a couple of years and you will be ok. over $150,000 in savings USD

then you come back here and start something. or whatever.

I find it funny that you all think everybody becomes rich when they get to Dubai. How do you know I will have $150,000 in savings in 2 years? LOL

Thanks for all the advice guys, keep it coming. I sent an e-mail today to our rep for the whole Dubai thing and asked for more info.

I believe you all about the other people that have gone, but I will be working for the same company that I am now. If i go to Dubai, I wouldn't expect them to quadruple my salary. However, it would almost double if I didn't have to pay income tax.

I'm more intersted in the lifestyle and experience than the money.

i didn't know you were allowed to talk to women.

my friend went to visit his family in syria... he came back.. with a very bitter and spiteful attitude.. hahahaha... the best place he went to was a pool hall with non-alcoholic beer, and it was only guys.

he couldn't sleep at night, because loud speakers would go off every hour praising Allah.

--

my dad's friend worked as an electrical engineer for 10 years in saudi arabia and came back a milllionaire. no exagerration. now he runs a repair shop for fun... and always has the sickest of toys.

--

my friend's dad worked as a civil engineer and came back with a ton of cash. They have a house, and some probably he purchased that he rents out.

---

You save a lot because a lot of your expenses will be taken care of, and you will be making much more dough. Also, a shiek for example, if he decides he likes you, will take off his watch and give it to you if he feels like it. It's not to often you get a $50K bonus for the hell of it. Don't be surprised if some rich guy decides to take a **** on his property by pulling his pants down in front of everybody. He's rich enough to not care.

-----

A lot of middle eastern countries pay so much because they have more money then they can really spend. they want the best. it is not acceptable for a rich son to go and start to work to establish a career... so they bring over other people, they never have to lower themselves to that. That's the popular view at least. i forget where the biggest mall was, I think kuwait? regardless, it's the biggest mall in the world, but it's not busy at all because women aren't allowed to go shopping. they built it to say they have the biggest.

this is the kind of place you would be going to.

I myself would probably never go to work there... I have a feeling I'd get arrested, or stoned, or murdered by the police the after the first time I got drunk.

Don't listen to people's suggestions about if you should go... learn about the place.. look at the money you will make... consider threats/dangers (ie George Bush) and make a decison on your own.

at least lebanon has superclubs.

You can say that again. But if you respect the culture you'll have no problem.

Glad to see you've mentioned.. no country in middle east party as much as lebanon. thats why all the kuwaities/saudiese ect are always in Beirut.

Besides its only 2 hours by plane i think you can go when you want...

Like i mentioned before i'm not suggesting you to do anything.. all i'm saying is that if you decide to go , its strictly about money.. as you will not be doing much ... theres no life for you ...

yo i honestly hear they have ridicuously amounts of money there...people tell me they see bently's and rolls' like civics...people i know who come back from there come back with money out their asses and all these new gidgets and gadgets that i never even heard of

But i hear there is like no night life at all, unless your friends with a sheik and have acess to his harem . Honestly though i hear the girls are SUPER SEXY down there but you cant talk to them because brothers and cousins will be on your *** for so much as looking at them...

I dunno guy it depends on what you really want...money is one thing you can get whenever, but having fun at a young age you can only get at a certain time...but then again with that money you'll have fun for the rest of your life...so i guess it depends on your priorities..i dunno im just rambling out my ***

thats my $0.07

One thing to note is that they are very strict about outsiders especially on traffic violations. Other than that, great place to be, especially if you enjoy the sun.
I agree. Been there, loved it. It is a city on the build. There is massive construction going on all the time. Dubai is the shopping center of the middle east......everything is for sale.

They have some really nice hotels and alot of hot British and Aussie women. Being Canadian has its benefits over there.

If you go, make one of your night time stops at the Emirates towers. There are two bars there that absolutely filled with hot women. Thurs and Fri are considered their weekends. If you're into Hookers(LOL) go to either the York Hotel or TGIT. Wall to wall hookers. LMAO

As far as speed limits, they definetly have them. There is even photo Radar on the highways. Many of the cars over there have an annoying dinging sound(like leaving you door open) when you get to 120km/h.

You can get all sorts of bootlegged/counterfit stuff for cheee-eeep. Learn the art of bartering before you go..... definetly.

The City also has the worlds only 7 star hotel, Burj Al-Arab. It has a frickin Helicopter Pad on the damn thing. Aggassi and some other guy played tennis on it for a joke.
Whatever..............that's my take on the place. I'll shut up now.

I have friends my age from Dubai (20 years old or so), and they've yet to complain about the night life there. At times they have said how some of the night clubs are far better than the ones here. One thing is that it is very costly for alcohol over there. Sine it is a Muslim country and drinking is looked down upon, access to it is limited and therefore costly. One does have to be careful with how stupid you get in a club and what you say to a woman. Here you can get away with a lot, but over there a small slip and you could end up paying for it for a long time. One thing to note is that Dubai is full of people from all over the world and as a result you will find women from all over the world too. There is no shortage. As for hookers, there are plenty. I've heard that there is a ranking system on how much a girl goes for. It all depends on what nationality she is, but don't quote me. Honestly, I think you should go, if I had the opportunity, I wouldn’t think twice. Just be careful, respect the locals and don’t do anything you wouldn’t tell you mother and you should be good to go.

I'm going there for a week during the summer for vacation. Honestly, it's an awesome place! The money is really good and the city is growing. It's one of the best places in the world, in my opinion. Definitely go there!
