DOHC vtec

but really there is no clear "winner" here

both can be good motors, depends what your plans are

well stock a b18B is better then any d16z6 or y8.... displacement plays into that though.... technically if you bored or stroked a d16 to 1.8L it would probably make more hp and possibly torque

I like the high RPM redlines of the VTEC engines, what do the non VTEC DOHC motors redline at? I had a 5.0 stang b4 my Si and I fell in love with shifting a 7200 RPM!!!

d16z6 fuel cut off is 7500... i'd probably take a b20 cause of the low end of all power....

ok to clear things up....

I vouch for the DOHC non VTEC... why u ask... b/c u cant compare the D series stock on stock against the Bseries non vtec...

though HP is only what 13HP difference... there is no competetion whereas, the B18 is more competitive with the B16

so in actuality the D series Sohc vtec is not even worth comparing the 2 motors.

the Dohc non vtec has alot of potential... and so does the D series VTEC.

but stock on stock... DOHC non VTEC will smoke it by a long shot...
booooo to 7200RPM..... TORQUE is what wins races!
