do they scan u when crossing border?
hey guys,
sorry another thread (im too tired to find my other one, hey im on medical drugs,)
but do they scan you when crossing the border?
or just the car?
If do they, do they scan you going from canada to states and back or just going there? Wat happens if you bring something illegal from the states back home, like hmm knife or something do they take it away thats all or?

they just ask you question go'n in to the US: where are you from?where are u go'n? how long your there for? rarely they ask for your birth certificate go'n into the US, but sometimes they do, i guess if you have an accent or sumthing!
go'n into Canada how ever they ask: where are u from? where did you go? how long where you there? how much did each person in the car spend? (50 dollars a day, per person), they usually ask for receipts? if you spend too much or are suspicious looking they search your car and you have to pay taxes for the amount you went over, as well as taxes on the amount of new goods that you tried to hide. So throw away receipt and boxes and tags if your try to smuggle stuff. And they search everything under seats, bags, and etc. they just don't search you or your pockets.

nope, its 50 dollars a person/day. Let say there's 2 of you and you stayed for 1 day, and your cross the border and said you spend 80 and your friend spent 20. You would be taxed, 15% on the 80, if the security person really wants to be dick. I got bit like that. So break it down per person at the the border.

It's $50/per day AFTER 24 hours. the first 24 hours.. you get taxed on EVERYTHING you bring back to Canada.. so you can't go to the US for 15 mins.. buy your box of Cookie Crisp cereal and get it tax free.
I got taxed on 1 box of cookie crisp. Ended up being like 70 cents but I still got taxed.
And if they catch you with a radar detector coming back into Ontario.. they'll take it from you.
Some provinces in Canada allow radar detectors.

Slightly off topic..
Didn't you hear about the person who stole a neckless? It was valued @ like $250 000...
the guy grabbed it when the store clerk wasn't looking... and ran...
Cops caught him but couldn't find the neckless...
THey noticed him walking wierd tho... so they X-rayed him and they saw the neckless was shoved up his bum hole.
So... I think cops are smarter now and realize people are smuggling things close to their twig and giggle berries.

I was at buffalo about 3 weeks ago for a couple of hours. 4 people declared about $100 worth of goods and we didn't get taxed. We did however get searched but it was only the car.
Everything else we didn't declare we put in the girls purses. When we were asked to get out of the car the girls just took the purses with them.
I brought back a radar detector once and put it in a backpack in the trunk (box and all) they just felt the backpack from the outside I guess to check for weapons but didn't actually open it. I guess it's luck of the draw.
