delemma im in. ( work situation )
Hey guys i currently work in a Machineshop in Brantford.
now ive been trained to do lots of things from conventional machines to CNC.
experiences i have, milling, lathe ( both conventional and CNC )
surface grinding, centreless grinding, cylindrical grinding.. you name it ive got my share!
now the thing is a few years back, 4 guys started a machine shop who used to work with us, is now very very busy!!!! and very very smart guys! they do stuff that are unreal in the PET business
( PET is plastic molds )
they offered me a JOB... now with my experience im always hungry to learn!, now i make a good buck at ABBA which is where i work now..... and well, i dont know what to do.... should i leave to learn more about different stuff or should i stay b/c i know things are movingup for me in this company.... i just came back from brampton setting up a HAAS mill equipped with 4th axis so these guys can do our work, even though the process is mapped out and good!!! so leaving the company for a day was awesome experience!
im confusd! should i go ask for a raise??? hehe
what would u guys do

how much more can you make by making the move?
does it fit into your life plans?
does it make life easier?
for example.
I had a job at bell in etobicoke. it was great I was getting good pay and everything was fine. then a Job opened up in the scarborough location. I made the jump as quickly as I could. scarborough sio where I live. I didn't get a pay raise. I didn't get more benifits but it made my life easier. and there in was the key

could ask for a raise, not like there is anything to loose by doing this. also would company would you prefer to work for based soley on the work/people, that may help also. good luck sounds win win to me

in that case i'd stay and wait it out cause if the big people are leaving and you've been there for 7 years...your gonna move up higher forsure...but fast. unless of course you don't want that or you hate the people you work with, then i'd jump ship

no man i dont hate the people i work with!!!
if anything its just a blast! but the people i used to joke with are almost gone!
even though things looks bright... you nver know!
mgmt will never tell there side of the story! i heard they almost claimed bankruptcy!
shiet! who knows!
im titanic and its slowly sinking!

use the 1 of the 3 weeks u get off and go work for the other company and see how it is if u like it then go there.
simple as that.
personally i wouldnt leave because they are the ones who made u who you are in terms of skills etc and in a way its backstabbing them by going into their business enemy side.
kinda like charlie from american hot rod when he said he is going to work for chip foose and said basically **** off to boyd
