Computer Mouse Info.
I'm looking to get a new mouse and am wondering what's a good one to get (optical, cordless).
It's basically going to be used for the internet and "some" gaming. And I want one with a wheel.
Is anyone using a cordless one? How long do the batteries last?
I've read that some optical mice have some "glitches" when scrolling and such.
I was looking at these three:
- A 2X optical sensor-up to 800 dpi
- Three customizable buttons and a scroll wheel
- WebWheel™ software for smarter Internet browsing
- Precise optical sensor for smooth movement on almost any surface
- Three customizable buttons and a scroll wheel
- WebWheel software for smarter Internet browsing
- Powerful optical sensor for twice the speed and twice the accuracy of standard optical mice
- Digital radio technology for the ultimate cordless freedom
- Three customizable buttons and a scroll wheel
- WebWheel™ software to enhance Internet browsing

There's 3 optical mice roaming around my apartment here... one is the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (I like it because it's got the forward and back buttons for internet browsing, etc.) but it's a little heavy in comparison to the other 2 that are here which are the middle Logitech units you've got showing there. I'd recommend either.
I also have the top one at home. I didn't realize it was more accurate than the white one... just thought it was a different colour. In reality I have not noticed much difference between it and the other one... so I'd suggest for the general user to go with the less expensive.
As for cordless, I've got a buddy who has one on his iMac. I personally can't stand it. They're HEAVY and cumbersome in comparison to the corded mice. I also am not a big fan of having to replace batteries all the time.
Oh, and the extra buttons on my Intellimouse come in handy when I'm playing Jedi Knight II and Unreal 2003.

Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer - Bilingual
Microsoft 89.99
I will let it go for 74.99 and thats it, no tax, and just call if you need a replacement since microsoft offers a nice warranty program. I have used it previously and it was the best wireless optical mouse, better than logitech and the extra weight feels good in the hand, it doesnt feel flimsy. Very good range too!

I would go optical and with cord for a desktop PC. changing the batteries on a cordless will get annoying, and honestly, how far do you regularly sit from your computer? 1 foot? So why do you need a cordless?
Cordless are great for laptops, cause you don't have to fumble with the mouse wires in your laptop case, and it's just easier to carry around...

Thanks for the input guys. I went for the first one and it's working VERY nicely as I type I don't know how I lived without a scroll wheel. Makes things MUCH easier.
