well how you'd tell is if you change it and it doesn't come on then it wasn't the power supply.... if you change it and it works then it was the power supply

As long as you have a clone power supply swap is easy.

Proprietary PS are in most manufacturered computers and require a factory replacement.

does anyone know if this will work with no problems:

I have a HarD Drive that is runnning XP in my room disconnected from a comp.
The system im running at the moment is running win95

Can I remove the 95hard drive and put in the XP hard drive just a direct swap without doing anything else?

Will it work?

Yes, you can do that.

Just make sure the comp running WIN95 has the system requirements to run XP.

ok i have all those requirements met

I tried it and it doesnt seem to get past the start screen, the manufactureers screen. It sayd " Hewlett Packard" and then goes to a black screen and then stops.
The WIN95 system is Hewlett packard and the Xp is a clone

IS it possible to make it work?

Try to get in the BIOS and make sure the startup device is set to the IDE Harddrive.

Pretty much.. Make sure the little tab on your harddrive is set to master and it's plugged in the Primary master IDE cable on the motherboard.

My comp used to shut down by itself.

I thought may be it was a driver problem or the power supply.
But it turned out the fans were freakin clogged. Took some Q-tips and rubbing alcohol and cleaned the **** off, works fine every since.
