Hey, don't know if too many would be interested on here but I thought I'd share anyways.

I'm a HUGE aircraft buff. So yesterday after rippin it up at cayuga, I popped by the canadian war plane museum on hwy 6 just south of the 403. Best $10 I ever spent.

If you've ever been there, you know how cool it is. They've got tonnes of planes to look at, you can go right up to them. I got to sit in the CF-100 (made by avro just before the CF-105(arrow)) The Lancaster bomber was the most impressive with it's 4 rolls royce merlin V12 engines. They had all the engine covers off and were doing some work on the plane so you could see everything. They have volunteers that come in who used to work on and fly these planes back in the day and they take you on a tour and tell you about all the planes and what they were like to fly etc... If you make a donation, depending on the amount, you will get a ride in one of the old panes. (I'm saving up!!! LOL)

Anyways, long story short, call me a geek I don't care...lol, but go see this place, it's awesome and you won't be disappointed.

i've been a couple of times (one time was for work), its pretty cool, but if the old guys start telling stories, its time to dip-out, they'll bore you to death.

Went a while ago, saw several trainer planes--the Harvard trainer, and some other bright yellows.

The Lancaster is very impressive. On summer days when they take it for a flight, it's possible to hear the loud, throbbing sound of the engines filling the sky from a real distance--the sound is so incredibly distinct, it tends to make you stop what you're doing and watch it fly overhead.

Have to agree with you, it is an interesting museum.

I don't know what old guy your were talking to but the guy I spoke to had a lot of interesting things to say. He worked on the arrow and most of the planes at the museum. I could ask him a question about any of the planes there and he knew about all of them. Didn't bore me at all.

you must be more into planes than I. Last time i went, it was b/c i had to for work, so the old guys took us all on tours, after hearing some boring stories (which took forever for the guy to spit out) a couple of us decided to dip out on the tour.
There was some cool stuff there though.

i'm a member there my whole family is aviation orientated! lots of neat crap there! true about the old guys telling stories but if you a big enough buff you can go there and skip the tour and pretty much just enjoy what REAL flying used to be! just on a kinda wierd note they found an old cf-100 canuck engine behind a shop at derry and torbram close to where the old A.V.Roe plant was! wow i am such a geek. whatever'

Yeah I went around on my own at first. then saw a small group going through with a guide (old guy) and I decided to join them. He had a lot of interesting things to say about most of the planes. I found it very informative.But yeah, you have to really be into planes to listen to these guys. They don't speak too quickly...lol.

I actually live about 10 minutes away for the airport and I drive by the museum almost everyday. During the summer, the planes fly right over my house. You can hear the Lancaster from miles away.

When I was younger, before the current museum was built, the planes were just kept in one of the big hangers. You could walk freely around them and even climb inside a few of them.

I think they had one of the trainer planes out earlier today...could hear it before seeing it.
