Burning movie to disc
I just downloaded a movie, but I don't know what program to open it up with.
I think that I've gotta burn it to a CD, but do I need a .bin or .cue file for it? The directory has about 17 files in it and the file names are like aaaaa-xvid.001, aaaaa-xvid.002, aaaa-xvid.003 and so on. Any help is greatly appreciated! |
looks like you need to un-rar those files. then from that it would either give you a movie file or bin/cue file.

Does anyone know of a program that cuts the movie in half? I want to burn half of the movie onto one cd and the other half on the other cd. Just because the movie is way to big to have on one disc.

i think this might do it

I have the VCD Gear program. Yet it wont let me add the track that I want to use. Nor come close to even splitting the movie in half since i cant get the tracik to even go onto the program.

Since you mentioned that the filename included "xvid" I assume that you're talking about .avi files. The .001 etc files that you see are winrar files so you have to get winrar and extract them and you will have your movie files with the extension .avi. The filenames you mentioned sound like warez group releases so i doubt that you would have to split the movioe yourself. If I am wrong and you are left with a single avi file that's bigger than 1 cd then the program to use to split the movie is virtualdub. You can find this along with tutorials by using google.
Once you have the movie sorted out, then it's time to burn it. Again, since the title includes 'xvid' this is going to be an .avi file which uses the xvid codec. With the exception of some rare or custom electronics the only thing that you or anyone that you know owns that will play this movie is a computer. In fact your computer may not even play this file because you need a codec for it to decompress the audio or video. You can get the required codecs by downloading "Nimo Codec Pack", also searchable on google. You then install this using the directions supplied and most movies should then play. |

Just because the movie is way to big to have on one disc. It can cut any file in half and then rejoin it. I've cut movies into bits before and works like a charm! The only annoying thing is cutting something up and it turns out that you got someone mid-sentence, but it's not really anything that you can control so it's no biggie. Thanks for the tips guys, will try that later. |
I just Unrar-ed it and it worked.
I've figured out what the problem is too! I have Unrar, but for some reason the file association in Explorer went missing so I had to open up Unrar and manually select the files it had to work on. Whenever I clicked on the .001 files, it said that it didn't recognize the file type, but I knew that I've seen this type of file before! I've since re-associated the file extensions in Explorer. Geez, it's sometimes the most simple answer that's right!! |
