Bringing a bike or golfclubs on vacation?

Hey, I am going to B.C. this summer for a week of biking and golfing. I have both, and there is also the option to rent both in B.C. I'd like to bring both of my own because I am comfortable with my own gear. So, questions is...has anybody brought their golf clubs or bike along with them on a jet? If so any good or bad stories? I know they can be pretty brutal on your luggage. I don't really want to pack my bike up in a box. Is is possible to bring it as is then ride away from the airport in B.C.? I'm assuming you can just wrap the top of your golf bag up? Thanks in advance!

if you are gonna bring your clubs get a platic travel case for your bag...its lockable and its foam protected in the head area so your clubs dont get mash up...I was gonna bring mine to australia with me but I didnt want them gettin lost or damaged and I didnt wanna buy the travel case cuz well I'm not likely to get much use out of it...as for the biike...just saran wrap it up at the airport realllllllllly good and stiff

I would just rent clubs and maybe bring the bike...but like seriously how often are u gonna use your stuff?

I see you're only goin for a week personally I wouldnt go through the hassle and worry for only a week

Ya, that's what I was thinking too. Clubs are probably cheap to rent and I don't want to risk loosing my bike or going through all the hassle to wrap it up etc. Plus, it's B.C.....I'll rent a bike, get insurance and ruin that bike rather than mine!

Did you put the entire bag in a travel case or wrap the top of the bag up so the clubs wouldn't fall out?

Details please!

I have a hard plastic travel case.

Really I could've packed all my clothes in there as well.

\Just make sure that you put your rain cover on your bag so no clubs are juggling around and put a sock or something on each club!

I heard that another person on this board (not mentioning names) uses a single twix wrapper.

I took both out to alberta back in 2001, was out there for 4 months. Had no problem sending them, you will have to pay extra for your bike though and will have to be boxed. Just go to a local shop to get a box.

No offense but a bike seems more like standard issue shyt. I would def take my own clubs though cause you already got the feel for them. A bike's more or less just a bike mate.

Either way, enjoy
