Best ways to capture video

I need to make a vdeo for school an I'm wondering what the best way to do video capture. I have a mini dv video camera , I ve made videos before but all the transfer was by USB , I need a faster transfer and higher quality video. I have a avermedia tv98 tuner card but, i need some software anythign I can use with my existing system. BTW my comp is pretty slow but I need to use it to make the video.

Any suggestions?

thanks

I beleive you need a video capture card......

something like this:
ADS Technologies PYRO PlatinumDV

Studio DV 8

This site seems pretty good if you are looking for information:
Digital Video Solutions

Video Capture Devices

Look for something that has firewire connections........

Hope that helps.............

I believe ATI makes an All-In-Wonder card for video capture, I have the 8500DV series right now, its a decent card for the money (around 250), it was 1 or 2 firewire ports, plus tv in, and analog in. Just a thought.

your tv tuner card is more than enough (if it has rca input) just to transfer videos from your dv to your computer.
