Doesn't global warming mean that we would get the worst of both worlds (ie. extremely long hot summers and deathly cold long winters)?

I think 'climate change' is the term they are using now...

and your energy argument doesnt' really stand up if we have longer summers (A/C)

yes, global warming, climate change, or whatever you want to call the pseudo-science news in the media right now, claims that the earth overall is getting hotter. at the same time, it's not everywhere getting hotter, just more extremes at all places.

i just working on something i started and never did much with, and looking for ideas.

1st world nations have money to survive this, it's the poor countries that are screwed anyhow.

hahaha no kidding eh, this guys

Obviously like everyone else mentioned, the Term Global warming or what ever its called today, is a cause of one side extreme which leads to further (worse) extremes then before.

Its the BALANCE of nature, without it things get worse, not better.

this summer is the last peaceful one, its going to get harsher and harsher, both summers and winters. You'll see, no argument needed.

Its not just the Earth getting warmer, its all the negative effects that a warmer climate causes. Things such as polar ice caps melting and reducing our supply of fresh drinking water and the habitat for polar bears. In the extreme even flood low elevation areas such as Cali and Vancouver.
The increase in temperature also has negative effects in our natural world. The increase of storms, heat waves, hurricanes, floods. Look how many bad storms we had in the last year. There is also effects on animals, our crops, and with the CO2 levels rising we're ****ed.

"WE" are not ****ed.

Toronto is fine.

Most of Canada is fine.

Who cares about anyone else. It's not our problem. We should stop selling water and holding onto it when it will be worth more.

We can be Ice Pirates

And we also shouldn't share our oil reserves with anyone else. We should extract and refine our crude oil and charge only 5 cent per litre for us Canadians.

Screw the everyone else. I think that might work out well.

or the gov't could stop double dipping in our pockets.

lowering the price of fuel in Canada would lead to resource misallocation and arbitrage opportunities. the price is only such that the market will bear it, if people don't buy @ any given price, the price will fall until people buy.

as for the original post, maybe a benefit would be longer growing season for agriculture? also please define 'climate change'... if in fact you mean more extreme seasons, that's one thing... as opposed to a general improvement in weather such that we end up having climate like florida or socal. in any case, cuz of the jet stream, our weather wouldn't be quite the same, but I see room for improvement

being a free market commodity, oil price is determined by the prevailing per barrel rate (ultimately supply and demand dependent)...so if the govt. lowers the price, it will only misallocate its own cash flow or profit. this will only happen if the govt offers a subsidy to the oil industry or tax benefit or else them oil boys wont let it go even a single penny.

majority of people will pay for gas at all costs but that majority will ultimately reduce with time but only to a limited extent. do we drive any lesser than what we all did five years ago.......prices are approx double now.

hell yeah I drive less now. haven't touched a steering wheel in a month now, prolly more. let's just say i discovered the subway and (somewhat) got over my fear of 'subway disease'... you know, being too fackin close to ppl or having to hold that filthy rail after someone just sneezed in their hand and touched the rail. but still, i walk everywhere... took the subway 2x since i moved here.

i was talking about fuel, you're talking about oil itself. two diff't things entirely. but way off topic so i'll leave it at that.
