Anyone have a spring compressor I can borrow?

Forgot that CT is closed today, so I cant go there to rent one.

i think i might go buy a set tomorrow..ya never know when they'll come in handy..

I know you can rent em for nothing at CT with the free loan a tool program, but to buy im thinking like $20 or so?

Make sure you get the U-bold ones and not the hook ones.

I've heard horror stories about the hook ones!! People losing fingers and stuff.

it's secured to the spring so it can't pop off..
that's the prob with the claw grip ones..if the spring twists one way they slide and **boing** spring goes one way, clamp goes the other..hopefully you aren't in the direction of travel of either..

anyone ever removed the springs by undoing the strut nut while the suspension is on the car (jack is under a arm and jacked up) then when you take off the bolt, lower the a arm back down so the spring isn't compressed anymore, than remove the strut assembly?

i saw it done on the boob-tube..looked easy enuf, but they wrapped a chain around the spring so it couldn't go flying..

yeah.. i work at CT n some chinese guy loaned one yesterday..
funny b/c i didnt even know what it looked liked..
