Another Case of Road Rage Involving Cyclists in Cali
Doctor Allegedly Caused Bike Wreck
A doctor faces felony assault with a deadly weapon charges after he allegedly intentionally caused a collision with two bicyclists in Mandeville Canyon.
An emergency room physician faces felony assault with a deadly weapon charges after he allegedly intentionally caused a collision with two bicyclists in Pacific Palisades July 4.
Dr. Christopher Thompson, 58, posted $30,000 bail shortly after his arrest at the scene of the crash and is due in court next month, according to booking records.
It had to be road rage, said trainer Ron Peterson, who said he and a friend, Christian Stoehr, were cycling down the canyon when a red Infinity sped past them and the driver yelled something.
He barely missed me.
Then, Peterson said the driver pulled in front of them, slammed on his brakes, and with no time to stop, he and Stoehr hit the car at almost 30 miles per hour.
My bike hit the trunk of his car, and that launched me almost through the back window, Peterson said. Bits of glass had to be removed from his face, and he required dozens of stitches to reattached his nose and close a bleeding wound on his chin.
This person, who apparently is an E.R. doctor got out of his car, [but] as far as I remember didnt offer me any medical assistance, Peterson said in a telephone interview Monday.
Thompson did not immediately return a message left on his private voicemail.
MandevilleCanyon residents and cyclists usually get along, but Peterson and other riders admit there are occasional road-sharing disputes.

^That's harsh, y0! Gotta learn to share the road. Mind you, you might "run" into the occasional idiot biker out there, but most of them out there obey the rules of the road. Same goes with drivers.

unless its a SS bike, those are meant to be ridden fast. As a driver, i say there are 10 times more idiot drivers then riders on motorcycles, not because of the number ratio, but as a rider myself, motorcycle riders ARE much more caution riders on the roads, have to be, otherwise there would be fatalities on bikes left and right if they were the typical drivers like the one in cars i see everywhere.
but sadly i have to say people on Cycles are just plain dumb if they are on a road where a motor vehicle can go, they are simply risking their own lives.

this is exactly what i'm talkin about. or biking down the middle of the lane taking up the whole thing. i don't mind if they ride down the side but most just don't. they fail to obey signs and this makes them dangerous to me as a driver, after all i don't wanna hit one of these jerks and then it'll be my fault.

Here's what you do, bbarbulo. Next time you're out and about and you see one of these clowns on the road that are disrespecting you. Reach to the back of your car for a hockey stick (most Canadians do have one back there), pass them slowly and make the stick disappear in the spokes.

I know a bicycleist who had that happen to him, he got the cars licence plate and as he worked at MTO was able to find his address.
He later went to the persons house with a battery powerd sawzall and waited for the person to leave the house with his wife and sawzalled the spokes on the two front wheels of the car. and left two of the 8 spokes cut 9/10th of the way through.
