Arrow Your custom exhaust pipe welding picture

If anyone has their exhaust custom made by a shop, or someone skillful, would you mind post up some photos of the welding? Reason being I might get some tubings from States and they need to be welded together. But I can't just give the pipe to someone and have them weld, since the car needs to be on a hoist to test fit the catback.

Mine is done at GT Custom in Pickering. A little too far for me to travel if I can find something closer around GTA. I know people talk about Zoro and Hot Rod Scott and others but I wouldn't mind see some actual product.

Thank you

I did mine at GT as well but isn't Noisz Boyz (SP) around your area or maybe that is in Mississauga, but they honestly have the best welding out of any other shop I have seen. The use stainless steel welds and most shops don't have the kind of welders to do this kind of work. It will look a lot like what you would get from a factory done catback.

I don't think GT uses stainless steel weld (if there is such a thing) and the weld started to rust quite quick. So I took off the pipe, sanded it and applied flame proof paint.

Ok here are my pics... you can totally see the difference in the old pipe vs. the new magnaflow I had put in, its a 2 1/2" Stainless Catback Magnaflow high flow muffler.

Johnny spent about 45mins making sure the back tail pipe was perfectly centered in my cut out of my bumper. He does great work. I've gone to Noyz Boyz and had a muffler done there, they do great work, but are overpriced I found.

Looks like a mandrel bent, nice.

Mandie, if you don't mind, could you please tell me if your system is a full catback or not and also, what they charged you for it?

What I also need to do is compare local price vs. buying the pipes from States and have the shops weld and fit them for me.

Thanks Mandie.

Brian, this is not an immediate thing that has to happen the next day, but that is something I want to look into and prepare myself for. I love my setup, but it is too "racing" if you know what I mean. I mean for a dedicated track car why not, but for a daily driver, I need something quieter.

This could be either a full catback, or simply adding a resonator to solve the noise issue. But which ever way I swing, the shop is the most important thing because I want good welding skill.

Thanks Brian

Mine is a full catback system, sounds really nice, deep but not loud, I like it, you know you have an exhaust but it doesnt scream it to everyone else. Wait till we hear some more news like what Brian was talking about regarding $ I got a great deal and a great job done...

preferred muffler is one of my clients...good guys over there...they take good care of people and do nice work...

Charles, those welds look like tig welds and u wont get that done at most muffler shops cuz they are time consuming compared to a normal weld...that kinda weld would have to be done on a bench and take a lil time...most machine or specialty shops could do this for you

u beat me to it matt

tig welding requires good skill, i weld at my work but thats with a mig, and i like to take my time doing it as well, i welded my exhaust at home but the welds look crappy since i'm using a flux core welder at home.

but i know what u mean, good welds look nicer, but they all rust unless its aluminium or chrome dipped afterwards, which would still rust lol

dont forget too, exhaust rusts from the inside out

heavy duty HVAC guys and pipe welders for big refridgeration companies usually have good welders. I was a a job site last summer and they had some guys welding big 6" iron pipe together with just an ARC welder, and their welds came out mint. Looked exactly like a tig weld, these guys had major skills.
