Are you an ef-er ?

Official you might be an EFer if.........Thread!

You might be an ef-er (1988-1991 Civics/Crx's), If you have done 1 or more of the following..... :)

...If you have ever thought of selling internal organs when you came across a "mint" 88 HF

...If you have repaired a side bolster in a driver's side seat more than once.

...If you have a basement and or garage full of "rare" EF parts.

...If you can catolog the number of EFs at local junkyards of the top of your head.

...If you have replaced a rusted sunroof in a CRX Si.

...If you know 89 HFs are the only 89 model year CRX with the seatbelt in the pillar not the door.

...If you have had the joy of dropping a fuel tank out of a EF, more than once, and feel deep hatred tward EG, and EK owners.

...If you have installed translation programs on your computer so you can comunicate with foriegners to buy parts from.

...If you have become an automotive electrical guru from your hours of wiring engine harnesses.

...If you have ever asked a body man how much it would cost to replace your roof with a different one.......

...If every time you see a Del Slow, you feel obligated make offensive hand gustures, and or curse at the owner for buying an attrocity.

...If you have broken into your car using a licence plate.

...If you can't remember how many rotors you have warped before upgrading your brakes.

...If you've learned to weld so you can moddify your own shift linkage, for bseries swaps.

...If you've bought a car with a blown engine, because you allready had one to put in it.

...If ridding cars that don't have rattles seems to bother you.

...If you try to make a motor fit just because its brand new

...if you memorized all the engine codes for the D series and B series and know what is interchangable and what is not.(between the motors).

...if you spend goobs of money on trash EF parts from japan.

...if you've had to explain to people how you got a B-series in there.

...if your wheels cost as much as your car.

...if your car rides like ****, cause its lowered 4 inches.

...if you feel some sort of friendship with DA owners.

...if you double-clutch third, cause your cable b-series tranny sucks.

...if you'd give your left lung for decent replica vision mirrors.

...you cant understand why your 'honda' friends cant remember all the differences between 88-89s and 90-91s, like you can.

...If you've ever been clobbered by the automatic seat belt by getting out of the car too fast.

...If you know what I mean when I say "white-plug"

...If you embrace the DPFI

...If your door check pops every time you open the driver door.

...If you burnt a spot on the underside of your hood when you put that tight new intake on for the first time...shorting the battery to the hood.

...If you put a quart of oil in the engine every time you fill up with gas.

...if you ever honestly considered boosting your HF motor, because it's what you've got, and you don't have the money for a swap.

...If you have waterfalls comming though your roof from the corners of the windshield.

...If you have a fishtank in your tailights after it rains hard.

...If you wish they made flex's for your car

...If you just wish you had more engine space
when your swaping in your B series.

...If your AC compressor has to be sacraficed to fit that BIGGER "compressor"

...when rust is no longer an eyesore to you..your an offical EFer

...if swaping a sohc motor is actually a HP gain.

...If your car leaks when it rains

...If you're only using 3 mounts

...If you have ghetto rigged an armrest/center console.

...If you have replaced your hatch struts

...If your lip kit consists of "lawn edging" from Home Depot along with some sheet metal screws and black spray paint

...When something happens like a ding on your car, you just say "**** it, it's just an ef" and go on like nothing happened

...You have spent at least 8 hours looking for a CF lip that will fit a USDM front end online

...You have at least 1 spare d16a6 sitting in your garage

...You get excited when you see a mint barbados yellow CRX on the street that's driven by an old man who doesn't give a **** about the value of the car

...70% of the things you fix/replace are "custom made" with a dremel, welder, or heat gun
- if your idea of a "motor swap" consists of a d16a6 block with a d16z6 head

...your "big project for the weekend" consists of a DPFI to MPFI swap

...you use "high mileage" motor oil...lol

...you have a ww mugen replica body kit

...you spend hours on ebay each week looking to find a JDM climate control

...you put Suzuki Vitara pistons in your DOHC ZC motor

...you have main relay problems

...If you've glued your busted climate control back together at least once.

...if you know where to put your drink while you are driving"-messeduprex

...when oyu spend tree weekends hiding the gobs of wires in the engine bay
spending countless hours polishing and taking care of your EF

...when you sit on the computer looking for civic/crx pictures and seeing other peoles ideas

...when you start threads like this.

Gunmetalef 08-Dec-2004 11:44 PM

Yes, it has been done, to raise the CR I believe.

Correct me if I am wrong.

bbarbulo 09-Dec-2004 09:51 AM

it's to lower CR... there is a huge discussion on it on h-t forced induction forums. IMO, just buy the ****ing forged slugs.

supposed compression with the dished pistons (-12.5cc dish) in a D16Y8 is 8.5, however the piston is said to have the pin location diff't so the piston sits at 1.7 mm short of the deck at TDC... so some have calculated compression as low as 7.8 or something.

I dunno... I'm just gonna get REAL pistons with 9.0 compression. The Vitara pistons look like complete ass anyways.

imported_viper_2_4 09-Dec-2004 11:57 AM

hahaha, I saw this on Honda-tech, good stuff......I fit quite a few of the categories....... EDs (EFs) are where its at....:nods:

hahaha, worst joke ever.....but I am still laughing...

imported_caloge 09-Dec-2004 05:58 PM

a couple of those apply to me but im not an ED(F)'er, but they are the general ones like the translator for parts, and a sohc motor would be an upgrade, or just a head

imported_My Blue Si 09-Dec-2004 06:20 PM

Probably 2% of those applied to my car. The main relay one and the gas tank. This post and documentation would only come from a bunch of butchers who hack they'e 4th gens.

check out the d series honda boards

couples guys have very cheap $$ built D series engines using vitara pistons

one guy was supposed to be running around 15-20 psi with them and no problems

I agree, hardly any of these apply to me, and i've owned five of them over six years (still got the first one though  ). The ones apply to me could apply for anybody that was into any car!

:D 1000 posts :D

TheModFather 11-Dec-2004 05:36 PM

imported_Hybridtheory 12-Dec-2004 03:36 AM
