i rather you try to squeeze a couple more grand and get the 06 sedan.... its much better... not worth buying the 03 sedan now especially with 98K on the motor already...

its just not worth buying it now... i guess

and insurance takes lots of factors into consideration...
and also its a false myth to believe your insurance will drop significantly after you're 25..... it also takes into lots of stats on the age of accidents in your area, type of accident.... some area might still have relatively high rate of insurance because their area contains a large group of 22-28 years old and the accident rate is high or lots of drunk drivers in that area... then even if you're 25, you might not get lower rates... and sometimes you get higher rates for some reason after year-end of your policy period... i'm studying pension and insurance right now... double specialist in actsci and stats at UT... my prof said you can't count on what people say and what insurance brokers say... its all about the actuarial and stats people behind the company that determines it....

I wouldn't say it's as much as a "myth"... but there will be some exceptional cases as with anything. And of course one person over 25 living in one area does NOT neccessarily means he'll get cheaper insurance than the other person under 25 in another area. But considering all other factors the same, most ppl going over 24-25y/o mark usually see a relatively bigger decrease in insurance IMO.

The year I turned over 25 b-day, my insurance went from $3000 to $1600 a year. Other than having an extra year of no-accident driving, there was nothing changed.. I lived in the same place, remained single, same car, same income, no traffic ticket. I also asked specifically why such a big drop and was told it's the age group. I would love to think the big decrease was not due to being over 25y/o.... coz, in that case 1 year of clean-driving worthing so much decrease in premium.. by now I would have been paying $100 a year insurance

Well, I bought the car. One thing I'm not looking forward to is driving it off the lot with my very, very limited 5-spd experience. Thanks for all the comments.

Oh, and the turning 25 thing is NOT a myth. I got my broker to submit the same quote in his software, but with my age as 25 (which is < 3 months away for me), and the quote fell by more than $600. So I'm looking at much better insurance very soon.

dont worry much. you'll be stallingh and stuff but you'll learn

ride the clutch if u really really dont want to stall but dont make a habit of it

and going uphill just pull up the handbreak and release slowly so u dont roll backwards

i suck at driving stick too

you will never learn unless you take the risk and guts to drive out of the lot... with pressure, you improve quicker...

and haha... after all, your broker is still just relying on the comp... a decrease in 600 is a lot... some areas decrease by like 1500... some decrease by like 70%... some might not decrease by 10%... and i have seen people who didn't even drop at all after turning 25 in age....... so its still a myth... someday that age will become 28 or 30... once tons of 25 years old think their insurance is so cheap, they drive like a fool hahaha...
anyways, this is just some "business" concept behind the insurance industry...... up to this date, most insurance company is still willing to take the risk that 25 year olds are less risky drivers... but eventually, it'll change once you've seen lots of crazy drivers who are age 25-28... its just a matter of time when they change that "saying"...

"very limited"??.... I had ZERO experience when I got mine off the lot haha I avoided the main busy roads and went thru small roads back home a few blocks away, and practiced in a school's parking lot for couple of nites

Insurance is one thing that defies common logic...

Normally ppl dont' want to get old --> but getting older is good for lower insur

ppl don't want to live with parents --> living with parents is good for lower insur

ppl don't want to get marry so soon --> getting marry sooner (and have kids!!) get lower insur sooner...
