Yaris or Fit

fit, yaris are absolute garbage buckets. i drive those pos all the time at work and they're so ugly.
i love how you can recline the front seats and make a bed in the fit. get a fit and cram a k20 you'll have one fast sleeper .

yaris hands down.. i work for toyota and the car is very very reliable in terms of service and what not, none of my customers ever complained about it, they only come in for the usual maintenance stuff but besides that they love the car.. its actually fun to drive if u get 5spd. Accesorys are widely available for the Yaris and i can hook u up as well on better pricing for the car or parts (i work in the parts department). I dont know 2 much about the FIT but i think its ugly

My buddy bought a honda fit... and returned it after 3 weeks.. he found that because of the cabin layout his feet/foot kept falling alseep while driving so he returned it and got a 06 Civic
and.. the fit = overpriced

its a tough one but i think you will never get a straight answer here cuz we dont have alot of members who own one or the other. unless somebody has personally driven one for quiet some time....they can tell you but not otherwise.
did ur sis test drove any of them yet?

Well they are both slow as molasus, the yaris is lighter and will get better fuel mileage, but the fit is probably a bit bigger inside.
I test drove a yaris last year, got it to chirp into 2nd but once you get up around 120kph it falls on it's face and barely accelerates past that. (not that you need to go over 120 all th time). The handling in the yaris was very inpressive. It had very little body roll and lots of grip.
In all honesty, i'd prob pick the yaris, it's lighter, handles better, get better fuel milage and it's not ugly like the fit.
However, your sister needs to drive each car for herself and see which one she likes better.

from looks and functionality i'd say fit, but i haven't driven either so i can't say...
some people that i know have driven the fit say it has too much body roll... but they're hardly enthusiasts, so maybe they just didn't know what they were talking about.
i'd still prefer the fit over the yaris, i love hondas #1, and #2, the interior of the fit is 10000x nicer than the Yaris

Alright, here's my $0.02.
Is this biased? Possibly. However, I have driven both cars back to back. I drove them to Montreal and back to Toronto.
In summary, I liked the Fit much more than the Yaris.
I think the Yaris and Fit that are being looked at are close in price so, let's call that a wash.
In terms of fuel economy, at least on the highway, in real world conditions, they were the same. However the Yaris might be a little better in stop and go driving...
BUT in stop in go driving, the Fit is much more fun. For the people who say the Fit lacks power, I feel in regular driving (up to about 4,000 RPM) the Fit feels just as quick as my SiR.
Handling wise, it does have body roll but it is a tall car but the absolute limits are higher than a Yaris.
Driving on the highway, the Yaris has a lot more road noise. In comparison, after getting in a Fit, it was so much quieter...it seemed like it was in a different class from the Yaris.
Interior, Fit uses nicer plastics and I can't stand the centre mounted gauges on the Yaris. The Fit doesn't seem like an economy car whereas the Yaris does.
Reliability. Okay Toyota has good reliability but it's not like Hondas have a record of unreliable cars. Also, the Fit has been in production for over 5 years in other markets... so there aren't the problems with new model production.
Functionality, look inside the back of a Fit vs. a Yaris. The interior of the Fit is HUGE! In the Yaris we put in one small suitcase whereas the Fit, we put in 3. I like the flexibility of the interior of the Fit much more.
Finally, this is what I recommend. Drive both cars back to back. Look at them side by side. Sit in them side by side. If a dealer won't let you take one car for an extended test drive, you can rent a Yaris. Rent one and then go to a Honda dealer and drive them back to back. I think after driving around a Yaris for a couple of days is also a good way to find out if you really like the car. Unfortunately, I don't think you can rent a Fit. Anyway, in my opinion, if you do a back to back comparison, there isn't one.
It is not my money so ultimately, the decision is up to the buyer so, don't listen to what anyone posts and do a proper comparison....

The yaris has like 10 compartments in the dash/center console....it's insane!!! that was one of the things i really liked about the yaris. Not a fan of the center mounted gauge cluster though...

I really like the fit, but there are couple things I don't like, the price (seems expensive for that class), and the fact that the fuel efficientcy is worse than the civic for some reason (I know civic got a new motor)....
can't go wrong with either, but I'd go Fit...

MY SiR is right, test the cars back to back and then you can really tell which car is right for you.
