Can you explain then, what Sunoco uses to improve their octane if ethanol doesn't do it as you claim? I beg to differ. If you don't belive me, take a look at this site:

http://www.ethanolrfa.org/student_perf.html

For those of you who are too lazy to look, here is a quote:

"How Ethanol Works in Your Car: Ethanol is an alcohol fuel that provides octane when blended with gasoline, improving your car’s engine performance. Henry Ford designed his 1908 Model T to run on alcohol, proclaiming it the “fuel of the future.” And several teams in national and international racing competitions use ethanol because of its high octane (ethanol has a 113 octane rating) and exceptional performance. "

To me, adding something that has a 113 octane rating should be able to improve the octane rating of gasoline. I don't understand how it can't....

Mark
LOL...Mark, I was at that site this morning and was going to post the same thing (then I had to get back to work).

It is also good for the environment, reduce CO2 emissions, and it is a renewable resource, unlike fossil fuels.

ethanol is garbage......simple as that...is doesnt' add octane to fuel you mis read what was stated...it provides octane meanign that when mixed with fuel it will combust....and that is nto hwo they "create" high octane fuel at sunoco they use a chemical that I forget but it starts with a T and is used in paint thinners I think...that is what dsm dudes put in their tanks on races day's....not ethanol... ...in actual expericece with in runing it in actual race engiens...carbed 2 strokes it made them run hot and lose power using sunoco 94(these motors are very sensitive to fuels so they are a good test bed)...the best pump use to be esso 91 octane because it was the purest...in conclusion having actual first hand experience not jsut readign the ethanol companies site...which is jsut as bad as reading the tobacco companies site... they use it nto as a performance enhancer but as a enviro alternative (there are better way's at gettign 94 octane)....they jsut keep upping the mix of ethanol over the years to faze out usign so much gasoline...THE END...enoough said I'm right your misinformed, and yes my ***** is bigger than your's

I dont know why either, but when I was hooked on Ultra 94 my fuel economy went down as well. I would get maybe 400km to a tank where as with 92 I would get 450-460. In my 2000 SiR btw.
