is it worth paying so much less for high km car?
the difference in price for a civic with high kms and a one with regular (or low) is a lot. I just saw an add for a 2006 civic with 65 000km for 12 500$.
But is it really worth it at the end of the day to save a couple of 1000s and get a car with more kms???

Sometimes, higher KM translates to more road exposure. Two identical cars within 4 years of time with distinctive kilometers would prove that point. More road exposure would mean more usage on moving parts and joints, interior pieces, engine, and whatnot.
Whether it is worth the extra dollars is up to the buyer, depending on what you look for in the car. Save money up front hoping the parts are still in good shape; or pay the premium and get a peace of mind.

back on the topic , I have always bought cars with high kms ( not too high though)
I bought my 2000 honda civic in jan 2006 with 145 kms ,it now has 180 km and not problems so far but i ended up saving 3000 $
IMO if you are buying a car that is 5 years old or less and you are thinking of keeping it for a while then you should spend the extra$ and get one that has a resale value and can last you for longer.
However if you buy a car that is 5 years or older then it is not really worth to spend too much money getting one with low kms

in the case of the 06 civic having 65k on it its still a deal. what you have to understand is not only km is a factor in a vehicle's overall condition but time aswell. seeing as this car is still fairly new and it has x amount of kms on it that means the car was driven on the regular which can both be a good and bad thing depending on the car itself. you can keep a car in storage for 10 years and compare it to a 10 year driven car and the 10 year driven car might perform and feel better.

to expand also on what Team Ruskas said, a car with really low kilometers will still loss value because of the age of the car.
Ex: (i use volkswagen can I deal with them a lot) 1990 Golf with 50 000, is still 17 years old, no AC, no power anything
compared to a 2000 Golf with 200 000 Km with abs, power everything, AC.
tech is always moving forward making older cars more and more behind the curve.
