is it worth modding? hobby or waste of money?
Hey guys
I was thinking whats your opinion on modding.. Is it worth it? why do you do it?
I used to think it was a waste of money but since i stopped playing soccer ( injury) I s tarted reading about mods ( exterior , interior , performance ) and then i started modding little parts... Now after almost 2500 i m feeling happy ,guilty , and wanting more at the same time ....
Happy because i pretty much acomplish what i picture my car to look like since the first day i bought ( about 3 years ago) ... I just wanted something different than what everybody else had and at the same time something that does not look like it just came from fast and the furious .... a clean car
Guilty because i spend a lot more than what i had plan and i know i wont see my money back or i could of used it for something better... Also guilty because i actually wanted to buy a celica which wont happen ...
And wanting more because now that i pretty much like the way my car looks I want a better performance...
It may just be me , but i want to know whats your opinion on this....

everyone is going to have a diff't opinion. it's worth it if you get a kick out of it, but don't let it get out of control. use your head when you make these decisions, not your heart. there are ppl out there who mod that really shouldn't be modding (budget-wise), so figure out if you're one of those ppl. if you got money to burn, then it's not really a big deal

To me, there are so many of the exact same car out there on the road, all stock, all boring.
Plus I can't stand when there are things that can be done to improve the performance and efficinecy of the vehicle and I simply have to change them accordingly.
To me, it's about enhancing my car and knowing it has a edge over most of the stock vehicles of the same type I see everywhere on a day to day basis. It's about getting the most out of my vehicle and the budget I have to work with. It's also about having something different than everyone else. I also try not to get caught up in the fads like rusted hoods, and I quite often do things, little things, that most people don't think of, that not only changes the look of the vehicle but has a functional enhancement to the vehicle as well.
I'm also not worried about 'getting my money back' because I know the second I buy that performance part, my money is gone. I don't care. I look at the value it has to me. I know I'm going to enjoy what that part will do to the vehicle and thats enough for me.
You also have to be smart about it. If you need to be saving for a house or what ever, your car needs to take a back seat. In other words I don't just blow my money all the time on car parts. I do my research, find the right part, then wait for the right time to buy/install that part.
My $0,02.
