The faster you go above that, the worse your gas milage will be.

The numbers you see on comercials are for the posted speed limit, or just below that. And if it's an American comercial, it will be 55/MPH......or just over 90KM/hr.
You do have a point alan but I bet it doesnt help me that I have a 2.0l engine

Fill the car up and mark the KM's......then drive. Try driving at 90-100km/hr for ONE tank of gas.
After that, fill the car up again, and drive the way you usualy do. See what the difff in overall KM's is.

ie....just the other day I filled up with 39L......totals clicks I did was 514Km.....and I didn't really try to drive reservedly either.

on the trip back from Albarta I filled up once in albarta once in Saskatawan once in manitoba and twice in Onatrio ....

ok thats 33 liters a fill up (didn't let it get 2 low) and I was close to empty when I got to my house...

journey is exactly 3648 KM so thats

165 liters for the trip

so thats 4.52 L/100KM's

does that sound right to you ? am I missing something?

I'll have a just under a quarter tank left and the low gas light will come on to tell me to fuel up; usually I'll ignore it, but it does get annoying so I do end up heeding the warning... I guess that it's done it's job then!

when the light comes on i heard we get about 60 km to go before it's really out. at first the light comes on and off, then it stays on...and that's when i get worry. the most i have filled was 41/L, so 4 litres left before it goes empty. at that point i had about 515km.....so what's my km per litre here?

7.96 L/100KM or 29.71 US MPG

Here's a cool fuel consumption calculator

geez .. ok JSK thanks for the calculator ....

I finially get it, for L/100KM's you want lower numbers but for MPG you want higher numbers ... my 4.52L/100km's ranslates to:

51.37 MPG
