Winter tire season

Winter tire season
Hello,
I purchased my '06 Civic last year, very quickly bought some steelies with winter tires, then during the summer I bought rims and summer rubber and sold my OEM rims and rubber.
My question is when would be the best time of the year to do the switch to winter tires and vice-versa? Thank you very much :-)

That makes sense. I was actually just thinking that I spent so much time driving on my winter tires last year until I got my summer ones that I'd hate to waste them until the snow and ice arrives. Nevertheless, it seems your "better safe than sorry" logic would make more sense than my "better save them and risk it" one :-)

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I have a friend in Barrie and was informed that the ground was covered in snow the other day when the GTA/London ON area had no signs of any such things. Although when I was travelling to London a few days ago, there were some pretty big flurries including blowing snow on the ground, but nothing at all packed. You're right, it very much so is a tough case though, hence my post here :-)

Swapped them last week, roads are cold and snow will be here any day...miz well be ready then scambling to get them on. Changing back to summers all depends on what the weather is doing...sometime in the spring

mine were on a week ago, summer tires arent meant for cold temps, they get hard and its like driving on rocks.... winter tires have a softer compound to keep them from getting hard.... so even tho we have no snow yet, its better to be running winters when its cold

This year, I'm probably getting 2 sets just because I live out in the boonies and I'm afraid the roads won't be plowed very quickly.
Then again, we really didn't get much snow last year, so this year I might just keep the all-seasons on. I've read from other Si owners that the LSD, ABS and EBD are all awesome in the winter.
